really? morals? we all bought stolen code for our mpc's. thats like saying if a dealer sells some chick some bad dope and she o.d.'s he has a moral obligation to report the bad smack to the cops' see how rediculous that sounds. sales of the os went way down and the money just isnt there. and you want a moral stand to be made.
on the side. it is easier to program for windows. there are alot of tools the make it easier. you think there is an mpc programming set? try hand typed line by line and recoded until the bugs are worked out.
no thats not the same man..
first of all.. how is it stolen code if he was commissioned to write it and akai never paid him?
If akai failed to pay that would be breach of contract on their part and at that point he would own the code he wrote.
Secondly, Its no different than someone that sells a product offers either a warranty or support for said product, ESPECIALLY if the anticipate FURTHER SALES.
I mean damn...do you just throw your loot aimlessly at stuff and dont care whether it works or will be supported in the future?
Would you buy software knowing full well that every time there was a bug or an update you would have to repurchase the new version? and Im not talking like a version 1 to version 2 update/upgrade..
im talking version 1.0 to version 1.0.1 here.
and yeah.. if JJ be expectin people to continue to PURCHASE JJOS2XL then YES he needs to continue to offer good support for it.. In addition to that.. if he is Coding a piece of software SPECIFICALLY FOR USE WITH JJOS2XL.. then FUK YEA he has an obligation to support it further.
now admittedly.. maybe using the word MORAL was a bad choice of words.
But as for GOOD BUSINESS ETHICS? Comon' yo
no disrespect, but check yaself. this aint the streets.. its software. I can appreciate the point you were trying to make with that analogy.. but I respectfully disagree.
