I tried it also myself. It felt just like the 1000/2500. I don't know why Akai/Numark changed the Mode buttons on the pads..they should have left everything in the same area. The 5000 also does up to 1/64 for those that use quantize. The synth was pretty nice, I was able to create some crazy stuff with it, and the filters sound really good. I used it for about 30 minutes. I thought it was ok. I was impressed, but not for $2499.00. Grab yourself a synth on ebay, and some recording software (reaper..free) and you'll be in a better position. It was a lot lot smaller than I imagined tho..
