Don't get me wrong on the sp808 i will still buy one again if i run into it again but i called it a cr.appy thing because it made to much noise. And well i still think it looks terrible, but i really liked the synth that was in it and some off the, fx for that i bought the sp555 wich also looks like c.rap but as an fx unit for vocals it works for me...(and without the noise)
But comparing them to the mpc5000 they don't do it for me. This is the first sampler in wich i ever made a whole track just using the sampler......don't even use the hard disk function in it sofar just have that to store my tracks and sample cd's on.
And as far as resampling i think the mpc wins, simply because u can route it to any output and stack fx so less noise in the sample in the sp808 u had to go fx by fx as far as i remember wich meant raise off ur noisefloor with evry layer of fx and at 16 bit 44.1 that usually means u can throw it out if u don't have it right in three takes. And with too many samples with fx then in the final mixdown the noisefloor distortion would become a problem in my experience..
So for the synth i would buy one if i ran into it again for the samplerfunction i think i will stick with the mpc5000 still am trying to find an decent 4000 because off this new found love for the mpc, but for now i'm quite happy with the 5000
greetz from ams,
