MPC5000 definitely doesn't heat up as much as the MPC3000...Seems to run more efficient on energy...I always felt my MPC3000 was gonna burn up...

I have to admit it's slow in some things as in the chop, but i have to admit this is the first akai product i owned that i really like.
I had a s5000 but have to admit I wasn't really using it because back then i didn't understand the capability of that machine. Then i bought an mpc2000xl for the pads but the limited amount off memmory made me buy a roland sp 808 wich was total crap but i still favoured it simply because off the leds under the pads so i could see if there was a sample under the pad, I was basicly using the computer for sequencing at the time and the freaking synth in that under channel 11 i liked cause the thing runned on the same chip as the juno.. so the 2000xl was mostly brand new when i sold it...

I have this mpc5000 for three weeks now and have to admit that all the rest off my stuff is just collecting dust, so i geuss i have to admit that sofar the machine is working for me.

It kinda gives me the old feeling where i was doing evrything on a single thing and creativity made the diffrence not the set up...
wich for me was i a thing i was missing without realising i was till i wrote this last dot.

hey,i really liked the sp808.!!had it for 1 month last year.that thing can seriously resample.akai is way behind in that area.getting better tho.sp808 is a resamplers dream.sample and resample however you want.right now ive got the 5k and 4k next to each other sampling the roland mc o9 and seeing which one i prefer.monitoring through genelec 8030a.oh lucky me....

Don't get me wrong on the sp808 i will still buy one again if i run into it again but i called it a cr.appy thing because it made to much noise. And well i still think it looks terrible, but i really liked the synth that was in it and some off the, fx for that i bought the sp555 wich also looks like c.rap but as an fx unit for vocals it works for me...(and without the noise)

But comparing them to the mpc5000 they don't do it for me. This is the first sampler in wich i ever made a whole track just using the sampler......don't even use the hard disk function in it sofar just have that to store my tracks and sample cd's on.

And as far as resampling i think the mpc wins, simply because u can route it to any output and stack fx so less noise in the sample in the sp808 u had to go fx by fx as far as i remember wich meant raise off ur noisefloor with evry layer of fx and at 16 bit 44.1 that usually means u can throw it out if u don't have it right in three takes. And with too many samples with fx then in the final mixdown the noisefloor distortion would become a problem in my experience..

So for the synth i would buy one if i ran into it again for the samplerfunction i think i will stick with the mpc5000 still am trying to find an decent 4000 because off this new found love for the mpc, but for now i'm quite happy with the 5000
