Hmmm.. I got an email from Music Store yesterday - who have my MPC 5000 for repair under warranty - that said that the service center could not find any fault and that the unit works perfectly for them. Now, either someting magical happened during shipping, or they did not try to diagnose all that well: my unit crashed every 5 to 10 minutes, even when doing nothing (in clean idle mode right after booting).
I replied to Music Store that they should observe better and explained that I wouldn't have sent the machine in for just the occasional hiccup. No answer yet; let's hope they come through and find and admit that this particular MPC is a lemon.
