In regards to the marketing, I was somewhat offended by many of the video clip ads of Ren/Studio. I thought they were caricatures of the hip hop black producers. Everybody was bouncing around, looking mean and dancing a little too much.

However, I still think the machines are good units.

I agree. I am a white boy, and I was offended because it make black musicians look like goofy stereotyped puppets. Insulting..... It was more like a cartoon than anything else...

But, I also agree that the Ren and Studio are good. After a year of updates, I left Maschine for the Ren. Maschine is a monster, but for me Ren/Studio just fits better. I can't explain it, but it is.

And you must care because you are here posting about it, instead of making music. I agree with your sentiment, but if all we did was "make music", there would be no forum. There is nothing wrong with discussing our tools.

AKAI should care how they are marketing. . . I hope.

It's too bad cuz most mpc heads love akai and akai seems to show no love how in the hell do they release the element and not offer ren/studio users free expansions they even want go an sell the expansions for the mpc software...every time I see how ni supports their customers, customer service, promos kits vsts I get jealous.not enough to make me jump on a mashine cuz I love my mpcs too much I just wish akai at least acted like they gave a ****

I gripe about this straight on their FB page when I remember. They got away with that price drop too easy if you ask me. Threw it in our faces and called us bitches. My gripe is not the software anymore, I have a new focus on these constant price drops. The Ren will be 199.99 by next summer and you'll be able to trade it in at gamestop for 25.00 store credit. SMH. I feel like that sucker that got a brick in a box in the parking lot of best buys. :( and :fku: :Sigh:

A year after it's intro, they had a price drop.... that is not at all unusual. Not only was it a year, but their only competitor released a new product, and the $999.95 price point, and so they had to do something.

The Maschine Studio is $999.95. With the Current Guitar Center 15% off promos, it's $849.95. Same is true for the ren, except it has been out a year, and Maschine Studio less than a month.

Some here on the forum were saying the Ren would be $495 for black friday.... that is just trash talkin'.... it wasn't going to happen, and it didn't happen.

I prefer watching dan going though features of the product, than the marketing vids... Straight up, the marketing should of been just him going through features.. Or one take vids of maybe a Arab short routine.. Or even Better Dave fingers... Get some interesting Live performers in a wide variety of genres doing one take no edit performances... Basically how MAschine is marketed..

I dont care for expansions, as a sample alot, but sometimes use sample packs for drum layers and do realise the importance of expansion/sample packs as a starting/selling point for the product.. The only gripe i have with the expansion packs is file sorting.. Especially when browsing just samples... Quickest way around it would be a text filter search... I like the way you can navigate through your hardrive.. Without having to add it to a tagging system. Because 3 party sample packs already sort their samples in folders..

The plus side of this hybrid setup is that even if they bring out new rens and studios and other controllers, the software will work with legacy and new controllers.... They should always support their legacy line from now on(From ren studio to the future) And do What Ni arn't doing... Sell the Controllers only and make the software free..The more people using the software the more potential for them to sell hardware.

paying the $1299 premium means your supporting the company to be able to grow and see potential. You dont feel bad or regretful because you realise the effort and work that it takes to make something like this... Even if it the product ends up not working for you...

Of course everyone got his angle on philanthropy and charity, but I'm pretty sure there are several ways to altruistically spend that amount without making you sound that delusional.

AKAI Professional is a Japanese company, we're not talking Brazilian Coffee Beans FAIR TRADE, dude!!!
