The first thing I want to point out is that we are all musicians, beatmakers, and producers who make music and it is the man that makes the music not just the gear.
Next thing is a remind everyone that it has already been posted in many threads and by the representatives that the new line and new direction for mpcs are going for software integration. The hardware market is sadly being discontinued. You, I or anyone else has any control of that except Akai. New users of the coming Ren/Studio are fellow music makers who are willing to give the new technology a run for it`s money for the sake of making music. New adaptors are not the problem, in fact they may save the company.
Third thing is that there are many testers working with the new mpcs to get it right. If they don`t get it right, then it is all she wrote. And we all would lose.
Fourth is the new mpcs have a dedicated thread for discussion on the workings of the new mpcs but also for suggestions for additions for the new mpcs. Everyone has an opinion however what is coming to the market is Ren, Studio and Fly. A whole new forum is dedicated to the new mpcs like every other mpc on the market. Realistically Akai gave us a early preview of the stated production unit before its release that isn`t going to change from now.
Finally Ren/Studio will use the same sequencer that Roger Linn invented, the sampler engine may be different in some aspects but the drum program layout and maybe the key group parameters will be familiar to most users. We can all agree it won't be the traditional hardware mpc, but the other point of view that differs from the hardcore is that it is a new mpc that will have the familiar workflow of traditional mpcs.
Using the new mpcs won`t be like using ableton sequencer, logic`s sequencer or maschines. Through all of these sequencers are great and have advanced abilities. The familiar mpc sequencer is very user friendly and easy to use along with the timing and feel. It is a question of whatever the user feels most comfortable with. Everyone can make music with anything.
This is a post on the reasoning and understanding of why many traditional mpc users are going to buy the new mpcs. No fanboyism, no hate, and just for the love of making music.
Now all of that said, if Akai were to have a change of heart, direction, and decide to go back to the drawing board and make a all inclosed hardware unit for mass production that would be great too I am all for it. But that isn`t what this thread or forum is about now. As it stands Ren/Studio/Fly are the guts of an mpc:
1 MPC Sequencer
2. MPC drum programs and keygroup programs
3. MPC style sample editing
4. MPC style pad assignments and track mutes
5. And new additions that haven`t been released.
Some may come with love of the new mpcs and some may come with hate for the new mpcs. But it is what it is for now software based mpcs with dedicated interfaces.
I am not out to change anyones minds especially my fellow diehard hardware users even I am not going to trade in my hardware 4k unit as I stated in many threads and I still use today. I am fine whatever direction Akai goes in. But I do want to discuss with fellow adaptors of the new mpcs on what additions can be made and how they plan to use the new mpcs.
All the woulda, coulda, shoulda talk really don`t add up to much really if the buyers of the maschines, sparks, geists, mpds with alternative software drum machines and daws come back into the mpc family. Many users were actually looking for this type of product. And if some want to hate me and others for that it is ok. It just gear and 5 yrs or 10 yrs from now they will get over it as the world changes under their feet.
To my fellow MPC users bang on and for the other I got nothin but love for ya:lol:
