Easiest way is to export them as wav files and then load them into a DAW like Pro Tools, Cubase or Logic. If you don't have any of those programs try Reason from Propellerheads. It's a free trial fully functional for 30 days. I use Reason because I like using their track mixer.

Since you can't record audio tracks in the MPC software I recommend using one of the softwares above or another DAW.

Back to the beats.

I feel your pain. One of the most requested features we've been asking for is audio tracks.

i'm going to go ahead and recommend reaper. it's an indefinite free trial and a cheap purchase down the road.. you can install a special driver called rearoute when you install reaper that lets you send 16 channels of audio between the mpc and reaper, and myself and others have found that a good way to track out beats. you can use the mpc ren driver with reaper, rearoute with mpc, then use the mpc for sequencing, chopping, padding, then reaper for adding any audio tracks, effects, mixing, etc.

theres a thread already with info on setting reaper up and the benefits.

Yes, Reaper... http://www.reaper.fm

MPCs have always been for 'sampling' and 'making beats'. MPC5k had audio recording but I only used it for making beats and tracked those beats out to a DAW, where I added vocals, effects, and did/do mixdown.

Don't bother, when recorded through the mic inputs on the REN
the sound only plays to the left or the right channel. Not in the middle.

Still waiting for 1.7 to fix that.

Good luck.
They probably erased that video.

You can record live instruments, just like vocals, directly into MPC Software as a sample.

Problem is that you then have to manually record/place an event into the MPC sequencer to trigger that new sample at the correct time within the sequence, if you are playing along with an existing sequence and want the new sample placed at the correct position within that sequence, so that it is in sync with it.

If you are getting the laptop mic into the MPC Software record window, and the Renaissance audio outputs, it sounds like maybe the laptop mic is set to be the MPC Software audio input.

Have you changed the Device in the MPC Software Preferences/Audio to be the MPC Renaissance, and are the Renaissance audio inputs/outputs ticked as being Active Output Channels and Active Input Channels?

Where are you listening to the output of MPC Software, through the laptop audio outputs, or through the Renaissance audio/headphone outputs?

Where are you plugging the bass into, and how do you have the input select switches set on the top and rear panels of the Renaissance?

That is only when monitoring while recording it, isn't it?

Once recorded, as a mono file, it should be panned wherever you choose it to be.

Maybe, if being panned to one side when recording a new sample is a problem, and you are running the Renaissance stereo output through a mixer before it reaches the monitors/headphones, you could pan the left/right audio output of the Renaissance to centre while recording the sample?

when you're in sample rec mode, there is an option that you can switch between line in stereo, just the left input or just the right input. obviously if you want a mono recording you need to switch it from stereo to whichever of the two inputs you're actually using.

yet another feature that cats are waiting on for 1.7, that can already be done. i swear some of y'all don't even try out the things you want the software to do, just assume it can't be done when all it takes is for you to actually read the relevant section of the manual!

I thought that maybe they knew that, and they were talking about monitoring through MPC Software when recording, where if you choose just to record mono, by selecting either the left or right channel only, that you hear it while recording only on that one side.

When the sample is recorded in as mono, and placed on a pad, yes, it can be panned wherever you want, but it only comes out one side when actually recording the sample, in mono.

pretty sure that's because it's a direct monitor - routed through the hardware, not the software (?)
