jimbeats: although they will make a profit, i'm sure it's not nearly enough once they simply cover the costs of making the shirts.. we're talking a few hundred bucks profit maybe? after all the work and "the love" of what they're doing. that's not a diss on kdp, it's just a fact - these shirts aren't being nationally distributed through a big company.. this is mom and pop stuff. the same reason no one can start a big business in america is the taxes and "it's just the law" hoops. if the shirts made it to the cover of a magazine then they can worry about "rights". i think i speak for all of us when i say the sampling laws in this country are BULL. it's just to cover the broad as$'s of people. no vanilla ice/queen music. the main problem is it unknowingly tries to silence the sample "artists" out there. it's cool to ask questions but it was a buzz kill one to ask to the wrong group of people. these dudes are mom and poppin. not mcdonalds. they are part of your people, not a big corporate brand on the damn thing. walk in to a mixtape shop and say "hey guys, did you get clearance for these?" or people pushing drugs "hey guys, this is illegal" better yet how about walk up to the white house and the pentagon and ask these questions. i'm sayin..

yo looks like some of you need to go back to commenting over at http://youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com/blog3/
and leave the rest of us in peace! you might kind of love it too - they call out a lot of major brands/retailers who rip off smaller independent artists.. and im not talking about lifting and altering a photo either.

ill tell you right now for damn sure that pete rock, premo and dilla didnt clear every sample they ever used.. you must deal with this. and for my small run, independent vinyl/cd releases, i didnt either. you get on a major label, you need to clear your samples. not before. as far as people pirating my music online, it is what it is. i would blame myself since i only have one beat for sale anywhere online (itunes) anyway. i got a nice 9-5 and lots of DJ work that pays my bills, making beats is what i love doing, im not trying to eat off it at this point in my life.

i like these tshirts. peace to drumatic and co. and for what its worth, a picture that ran in an ad for the 2500 (which is the origin of the pete rock pic).. what is that really worth to akai after the ad campaign is over anyway? im guessing not much. pete rock didnt seem to mind, although he is kinda giving it the stone face in the pic! and the dilla pic overlaid on an mpc.. if that makes you mad, i imagine the last few years must have been pretty hard on you. lord knows this aint the first tshirt with dilla on it hahaha

anyways peace to you all, im not trying to start any wars.
