elmacaco. I was reading on another thread in this forum, the "for sale" area where a guy said that you just bought a sp 505, is this true?
Its funny cause he was like using your name to pimp the gear. Is this true? And if it is, can the 505 sequence worth a dam?

I got one for a friend after I sold a piece of gear of his for the funds. I don't own one, and don't use one, but I think it's an ill piece like the sp 303 is, it has a 4 track sequencer with quantize, I've seen it used, but I haven't used it myself. With the 60's 99 track, it would take some adjusting to for sure. What's cool is it is portable, has mad sampling features, and sounds good to my ears.

I was just at PS1, and saw Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf spin. I talked to Madlib a bit, and asked if he still used the 1200, he said oh yeah, but it isn't really on the released stuff, that's almost all 303.

The 505 is cool, it can't replace a 60 as far as sequencing goes, but the 60 can't replace the 505 as far as sampling goes. Dude, don't buy nothing yet but speakers and utility shit, you have ill combos over there. Seriously, get to work with that shit, I can help you set it up and all. You do not realize the power you have there at your fingertips.

cool, I met madlib at a club in hollywood like 3-4 months ago, met peanut butter wolf too, actually, I just shuck their hands, watched them spin. wolf had on the 7 inch and 45's. Saw egon and madlib spin too. Madlib and co. are real soft spoken laid back dudes.

Man, I feel like an idiot with the midi thing, I mean I think I follow what you told me, and nothing works. I cant conceptualize the idea of playing a sound that I sampled on the 303 on a 60 pad. I even printed the manual. I get frustrated and toss the midi chords aside.

Also, I wonder how it would be to use the sp 12 turbo as a sequencer to the 303 as well.

anyway, thanks for all the info!..oh ya, I also have a roland w30 keyboard, what do you think of the w30? I havent touched it in years.

man all i can say to this is that u getting some mad support here man, waaaaaaaaay more than anyone else in this forum, which is good, but i think u going past yur self now. elm is right, you got some serious gears there, and you just need to settle down and get on top of it. know how to operate tht gear wid your eyes close. and be patient, small strides yo, i am surprised elm got this much patience, you should be more than grateful, just work with him, get the gear connected together, dont conceptualise, follow what nike says

just do it.

btw, your remixes coming on nice, i got my  on you.

YEah man, I have way more patience for 60 cats for some reason, spreading the Gospel According to Linn....

THe W30 is a dope piece man!! for sure!! Not a good sequencer, but good filters and stuff, and then you have a melodic sampler as well for multisamples. Your Combo just got even better bro.

elmacaco, yo thanks, good lookin out, I got this midi down. I just put some drums in the sp 303, got them bumpin thru the 60, with some internal 60 sounds as well. It's cool that it seems to make the beats punchier. What I do is lay the midi stuff on track one, and then I use the other tracks for the 60 sounds. This is the sh*t. I cant wait to f*ck with this some more, and with the w30..

Thanks alot for your help!!!

Ya, so if I lets say I got a sequence going, and I introduce a new sample(s I just put that on new track. Oh by the way, another cool thing that the 3.10 upgrade has is that when you sample in a new sound, the sequence doesnt dissappear.
I cant thank you enough, this midi thing is dope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By elmacaco Tue Jul 06, 2004 7:32 am
yup, everytime you add anything. even for external modules using the same pads, that way you can just drop certain notes by muting the track ( soft key 1 in main screen). once you record a new part (even the first ) switch to a new track before you disengage record or try anything else that isn't a part of what you wanted to add.

I guess its a blesing in disguise, I was posting too much sh*t, hurrying up to make a beat, post it etc.....But f*ck that. I want to be more thorough(sp?) But I love hearing y'alls ish.. But, Its cool, I can focus on the beat at hand, take it slow for once etc..

F*ck, elmacaco never posts a beat, and his sh*t is TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, elmacaco, your sh*t is ridiculous, and you never post.. Maybe I will do the same. I'll chill a bit on the posting. Get my sh*t tight too.

And for all of you who dont know, man elmacaco got serious skillz!!
