I don't own one, and don't use one, but I think it's an ill piece like the sp 303 is, it has a 4 track sequencer with quantize, I've seen it used, but I haven't used it myself. With the 60's 99 track, it would take some adjusting to for sure. What's cool is it is portable, has mad sampling features, and sounds good to my ears.
I was just at PS1, and saw Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf spin. I talked to Madlib a bit, and asked if he still used the 1200, he said oh yeah, but it isn't really on the released stuff, that's almost all 303.
The 505 is cool, it can't replace a 60 as far as sequencing goes, but the 60 can't replace the 505 as far as sampling goes. Dude, don't buy nothing yet but speakers and utility ****, you have ill combos over there. Seriously, get to work with that ****, I can help you set it up and all. You do not realize the power you have there at your fingertips.
cool, I met madlib at a club in hollywood like 3-4 months ago, met peanut butter wolf too, actually, I just shuck their hands, watched them spin. wolf had on the 7 inch and 45's. Saw egon and madlib spin too. Madlib and co. are real soft spoken laid back dudes.
Man, I feel like an idiot with the midi thing, I mean I think I follow what you told me, and nothing works. I cant conceptualize the idea of playing a sound that I sampled on the 303 on a 60 pad. I even printed the manual. I get frustrated and toss the midi chords aside.
Also, I wonder how it would be to use the sp 12 turbo as a sequencer to the 303 as well.
anyway, thanks for all the info!..oh ya, I also have a roland w30 keyboard, what do you think of the w30? I havent touched it in years.
Like, oh my God, what do we have here?
