EQ/Turntable...EQ them before you sample anything at all. I know it's tedious, but time shouldn't be an issue when it comes to learning and putting out our best efforts...PLUS, I will tell you this, lol, all that spinning back the record and EQing really tunes your ears to all kinds of details you may not have noticed before, trust me. I know it sounds reaaal slow, but when you start getting the quality you truly want before you even touch the MP, it'll be worth it. The texture possibilities are endless. Don't forget those headphones either!
And yes, you're right about parametric. You have total control over very, very, VERY specific frequencies. It's almost a self-education in sound, lol...
