Recording Multiple Audio Tracks Simultaneously

Hey Dudes,

This is driving me nuts at this point...

I have a Roland Tr-8s drum machine and you can set it so each drum track outputs as it's own audio channel. With ableton, I have seen this used to record all the tracks at once.

In the MPC software, I can not seem to figure out if this will work. It looks like it can, but when I try to record it immediately shuts off.

If I listen to different tracks, some will have one drum sound coming through. A couple tracks have the whole rhythm coming through. It's very confusing.

Any experience with recording multiple audio tracks at the same time? I hope there is a way!

I tried again and it does the same thing even if I try to record the Tr-8S on a single track. It seems fine, then when you try to record you hear a short clipping sound and it is switch off.

Records like a fraction of a second of audio and you cannot record anything else.

Could this be an issue because it is reading the Tr-8S as a MIDI controller? I am trying to only record the audio.

You didn't say anything how everything is connected.. I'm assuming you have an audio interface and the tr8s outputs are connected to that (seperately)?

If so, you need to set the right channels in the track you are recording. Page 22 in the manual https://www.akaipro.com/amfile/file/dow ... product/6/

I'll check everything you posted. If you are not familiar with it, this MIDI stuff is really confusing. I've lost a few days already...

One cool thing about the Roland TR-8S is the USB MIDI audio.

You don't need an interface. If you connect the USB from the TR-8S to your laptop, you can record the audio and separate the tracks to record individually. I hooked it up with Ableton when I first got the TR-8S and it was very easy...

BUT I upgraded my OS and spent all the money I had on a new MPC! I simply cannot afford the Ableton upgrade right now and everything is suddenly incompatible.

USB Midi Audio I don't think you fully understand the difference between what midi is and what audio is. Best if you start reading into that.

In your case, you should set the tr8s as your audio input in ableton, and then make all the tracks and assign them to their channels accordingly.

Track 1: input: TR8s - BD
Track 2: input TR8s - SD
etc etc

LOL This is painful man. At this point I just want to simply record one audio track in sync and it's not working out.

I have an MPC studio black and the TR-8S both hooked to the laptop with USB cables.

What I imagined would work is that I could record the TR-8S beats in sync with the song tempo. Then I was going to use the MPC Studio black to play plugin synths on different MIDI tracks.

Basically build up the song like that. The idea was so simple, but somehow this approach is getting jammed.

LOL This will definitely make me nuts...

So if I record arm the track, the audio comes through. If I start and stop the TR-8S if runs and pauses the project.

BUT when I try to record, it clips right out. Records a tiny sliver of audio and stops recording.

I've never worked with MIDI so I can't even tell what is normal.

Did you check the video of the guy setting up the TR8s in ableton ?
