Thanks! I got through the Bot portion of the Akai support website. I was impressed with the AI bot. I got a ticket #736362. I don't know if the tickets are publicly available.

Akai Level II support diagnosted my issue as a corrupted internal micro SDHC card. They recommended reformatting the SDHC car.
They offered two options. 1 - send the MPC for repair
2 - open the case and reformat the card myself.
I openned the case;
found and removed the 16GB SDHC micro card;
reformatted the SDHC (exFAT) on my laptop,
reinstalled the SDHC;
downgraded the OS so I could reinstall 3.7. 0.
This solved the issue.
This appears to have corrected the issue.
