It's probably also your best way.
There's nothing specific to the Live or 2500 that makes them any better. Feature wise they're a huge step backwards from FL. There's also nothing 'old school' or 'classic' about the 2500. The tact switches are notoriously fragile and can leave you having to mash the buttons before you have to de-solder the old ones and replace them, to then have to repeat the process 18 months later. Akai also managed to spray it with the thinnest coat of paint of any gear ever. Colouring it in with a black Sharpie would give you a thicker layer of protection. Workflow wise with JJOS it's brilliant, but if you have anything resembling a sample library, you have to convert everything to 16 bit 44.1khz for it to load. I found the more power JJ managed to eek out of the machine, the more the sound quality went to ****. Layering sounds or dropping the tuning on a sample sounded like total garbage. The filters in the 2500 are also cack.
The Live has a much more versatile feature set and better sound engine than the 2500. The sequencer has a higher resolution, the filters are really nice, effects are pretty decent etc. The aspects of the OS that are optimised for the touchscreen work well, although there's more work for Akai to do. My main issue with the Live is that I don't think it has a fluid enough workflow. I don't know if it's the touchscreen slowing things down, but working with it is like wading through mud sometimes. Basic omissions like graphical automation editing seem weird if you use iOS apps.
So yeah, my advice would be to stick with FL and spend the money on more important gear like better monitors, outboard effects or sound treatment.
That's nice advice but I will use a MPC 100%.
I'm not a FL Studio pro or something but I'm pretty good in it doing the stuff I like, but FL is feature loaded like hell, what of course is good, but often can be very overwhelming. I want something that gives me a more direct attitude towards making my beats and also the whole workflow on MPCs is pretty dope. FL is still awesome and I'll gladly use it to mix and master my tracks coming from whatever MPC I choose...
As much as I know you can export stems fromt he 2500

correct me if im wrong doe
I do have a sample libary that consists of drumpacks and sfx.
More things speak for the live. But I'm kinda unsatisfied with the outcome of this, I mean the whole layout, look and vibe coming from the 2500 is way more my thing. I dig old technology.
Workflow is better, touchscreen is gone, JJOS is quite good, it's more tactile, and it got everything an MPC needs.
But that the filter suck and that sound quality itself goes down to an amount that you can't really use it anymore is really a hard drawback. The Live on the other hand is takes my sample-libary easily, is portable and has quality effects.
So I hope this is not the final statement because I would like to hold onto the MPC2500 as long as possible
