:worthy: thank you!

What l would like to see is Akai work on these machines get them glitch free and work on the software. We already have standalone machines.

Young cats will not spend $1199 or more on an instrument like the MPC Live or X. When thete is a cheaper alternative to achieve the same goal.

MPCs can't compete with SW like S1v4 or FL, Ableton and Reason 10. :WTF: Doesn't have automation lanes nor PDC. Smh

BeatWilson wrote:i think this already happened around maschine 1.8 around that time every knew there was no point for a mpc standalone and it was preference. it's always been preference since then. people dont even use maschine. just komplete and that's it most of the time. waves bundle and yeah. I've been around electronic producers forever. it was already decided standalone was irrelevant then... that was around 2013 when we knew that. most of my friends were already done with hardware and on vsts entirely by 2010.

mpcs are preference... not worth the price but just a musical instrument. Even roger Linn said it was an Instrument, and should be used like one. This daw nonsense came out for Convenience... it would be convenient if it were a daw. but it aint!

if you don't want it as a musical instrument then yes. get a daw, vsts and a keyboard like the majority of people. your decision

Just for curiosity I took a look at Sweetwater Musics offerings for recording

147 products listed under DAW software
33 products listed under Hardware Multitrack Recorders

That sounds about right for hardware vs software preferences. 33 isn’t much compared to 147, but to find 33 hardware multitrack recorders was a bit surprising to me. I didn’t even think there would be that much.

VST’s synths, keys, organs - 374 products
Hardware synths, keys, organs - 189 synths, 22 organs, 22 keyboard workstations, 359 Eurorack modules, 19 modular synths

That’s a lot of hardware still.

Drum machines and samplers section was not a true representation of hardware only. Only about 25 products out of 54 that were truly standalone.

No true standalone Sampler/Drum machine workstations for all in one category anymore. Some standalone instruments but no real production workstations for end to end work

Plus the topic is about the end of pure standalone machines by Akai.

Personally i think that the most interestin music being done now could well be people using unique hardware ans software innovative products together for instance Roli sea board and blocks, modular,re issues of analog gear and odd samplers ect fromelektron ectect.......It inspires and also creates different textures....sitting looking at a computer screen all day is a bit like being at the office.Have to say tho this Live thing has hit the target between HW and SW just right.Yay...

Im open minded about new gear really, like that blackbox....if it sounds good, has that hardware type sound and feel i would probably give it a go.for the money and size of it it could be like an extended 404 :worthy:

I feel people are using under-powered computers that are not optimized for music. There is nothing like a computer that moves as fast as you can think. This factor alone, removes the computer from the creative thought process. No setting adjustment, the entire session is or feels like real time.

Things need to happen right way, no latency, hiccups., or lagging. It's all about the response time. Even loading sample set need to happen fast. Til this day, I don't know why the music industry have not created it's own computer dedicated OS. That way we're not depended on Windows or MAC OS.

This is why I would go to the computer to use a virtual drum machine, rather than buy another MPC from Akai. There's no need to buy a new one when DAWs are coming with such goodness as Studio One. They have updated their machine and it's dope! I am loving this thing. Plus I can record VSTi's and sample into this thing!
I can normalize in a second then turn it off in a second that is nuts! Plus if I do vocals I can "Strip Silence" I they do in Protools to cut out unwanted noise between vocal stops. This is crazy.

dude... all daws have that and have had that for like many many many years....
i dont know where you have been danoc. nothing new here... all daws have a virtual drum machine, all daws can resample, chop and so forth.

I dont understand why you keep posting so much again how you dont need an mpc then show back up on the mpc forums. why did you even buy an mpc in the last 5-10 years when daws have had those capabilities that whole time. ableton has had it forever.

why dont you put it to rest and do what you keep preaching. move to daw, then you can stop posting so much hate towards the mpc, then after pretend like your not hating it. you talk about it every **** day for along time now.

MPC is a instrument not a daw. thats it. move the **** on.

No its not! We know it! You know it!!!
Stop being a goof!!

Are you recording and mastering in it?! NO!!! STFU and Take A Seat!!!

The advertising as a daw is a huge fail and always will be. the fact you guys think this makes me think you cant learn anything new, or somehow master, mixdown in the live. Stand up if you do out there!!! Im listening!

....only play it well in live performance, but also develop finely nuanced personal musical gestures on it, as would a guitarist, violinist or other skilled virtuoso with their instrument... " - Roger Linn

MPC is a DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATIONS.

It's a Digital sampler, plays Digital instruments, apply Digital effects, record Digital audio, edit Digital audio, compress Digital audio, copy and paste Digital audio, you can import Digital audio, export Digital audio, mix Digital audio. So yeah it's a DAW.
