It's the same as I posted about the MPC X. (Below) It works the same on the MPC 4000. The only one that wasn't like that is the MPC 5000, where the RCA would work as phono or line in depending on the switch position.

So I'm waiting to hear back from the FNOCH test. Maybe they changed it but didn't correct the MPC X and MPC Live information. He should turn up his line level devices all way up, just to make sure the signal is hot enough. Then flick the switch to phono. Don't forget to turn on the speakers and put on headphones (Turned all the way up.)

Si it looks like RCA inputs are for PHONO LINE ONLY. Coming from Akai.
If someone has where RCA can take Line-Level do you have first sorce info on that?

It's just like a DJ mixer that allows you to switch between the Phono and Line in. On the MPC 5000 the LINE/PHONO RCA was the same port. However on these MPC, the RCA is strictly for a PHONO input. If you have a LIVE or X, just give it a try.

No no CHARLIE, the information is correct in the manual. For some reason I thought that I was able to switch it to line level on the RCA's as well in the past - my bad. And even though I respect you about as much as a wet fart, I have absolutely no issue admitting when I am wrong. So kudos to you CHARLIE - you win this round!

The gold MPC X is better for mastering and has better snares.

The black one has better swing and is good for 1/32 triplet hats and 808 drums.

Wood side paneling takes both systems next level with the sound coloring though
