In my tiny experience of 2500, 5000 and now LIVE II, they all don't do something or they corrupt work sometimes and you have to find a work around.

:hmmm:

Sorry, but this is not true. It is *NOT* intended behavior to require re-authorization once a week. You've got an issue with your MPC or your account that needs to be resolved - I'd strongly recommend you get a hold of support. I don't have to authorize my paid plugins once a week, and I've never heard of anyone else having to do so unless it was a firmware bug or there was an issue with their account authorizations.

Can you maybe file a claim with your credit card company or Paypal?

It sounds like you work for Akai. Send the Alpha testers my regards. :wink:

I spoke with five different operators about my issues over the course of a year, one conversation happening as recent as a few days ago after a week went by asking for authorization. Four of them said it was intended behaviour with the other escalating it to a service tech (months ago, no reply). Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you or anyone else.

Truthfully, I'm done trying to figure out a way around it. I am just taking their word for it at this point. Wi-Fi now stays on. Akai wins. I will remain a happy idiot while my unit gives them all the info they can grab.

Not a hill I particularly want to die on, but if weekly reactivation was intended behaviour then everyone with an offline MPC would be seeing this. I have an MPC that is offline for weeks at a time and it's not experienced deactivations for months now.

No one from tech support should be claiming it's intended. We've seen some evidence of a potential 90 day reactivation check, no firm proof that this is actually 'active' or just for debugging or whatever, but 'official' line from Dan Gill (lead product manager at Akai) is that it's not a thing in standalone.

But weekly reactivation issues would suggest you are getting caught by a bug. But it's not something you should have to deal with and it sucks that they never followed up to help try resolve it for you (I assume you've tried all the various 'fixes' such as changing timezone, the 8.8.8.8. manual dns settings etc).

Oh FFS... no I don't work for Akai. No more than you likely work for Ableton or Elektron. :nod: For the millionth time:

^ THIS ^

I'm telling you - weekly activation is not intended behavior. Plain and simple.

So you're telling me that 4 out of 5 "operators" told you that re-authorizing every week was intended behavior? Frankly that does not sound right at all. Because, you know - what Tutor said above is also true...

Huh? Think you're quoting the wrong person.

It was meant as a joke, but it seems to have struck a nerve. I'll drop it. :lol:

You think it sounds right to *me*? Of course not. BUT who am I supposed to believe here - you or Akai? Maybe it's intended with a slow rollout? No idea. I tried all the resets, factory restores, firmware swaps, tricks, tips, etc. Same dumb behaviour.

It's fine. Just weird to be called essentially a shill when all I'm doing is providing information that doesn't align with what's being thought as a root cause.

Well you've got 3 out of 4 Akai technical support responders telling you it's normal, and 1 isn't - so clearly something afoot, right? All I can say is - with Tutor as my witness - the vast majority of us do *NOT* experience this when things are working as intended. So, believe who you want. But personally, I'd take your unit back and exchange it, because clearly something is not working right.

As the person who started this thread I’d like to say:

1) this reactivation thing continues to happen to me - three times in the last month (including just an hour ago) despite the latest firmware;

2) at this point it looks like (for some of us) it’s definitely not ‘fixed’, whatever the underlying motive or lack thereof;

3) DMs are a really useful way of not exposing yourself as a **** in public.

@b-wise: Funny, but you gonna miss me with that gaslighting business. The call is coming from inside the house.

OK the petition link only says that Akai implemented a policy for resigning every 90 days, but doesn't provide a link to any official evidence & even if it was true, that still makes your unit defective & conflicts with other people like Tutor that haven't had their MPC connected to wifi for more than 90 days.

Once again, "gaslighting" was the word of the for a good reason :mrgreen: I wouldn't put it above 1 of the many insidious tactics of the Red ninja clan.

I would point out that I've yet to have any MPC offline for 90 days, when I said it was 'weeks' offline, I meant maybe 3 or 4 weeks, so around 28 days max. But definitely much more than 7 days.

Clearly issues affecting some people more than others, and big questions about whether Akai are being completely forthcoming on this (and with other issues such as data collection).

But, to everyone, let's keep it civil please.
