Even with 2 banks side by side you could put your main samples on bank B & then put other samples on bank A & C so when you switch to A/B or B/C, bank b with your main samples are still playable. 32 would also give you a 2 octave piano that better IMO, for playing synth parts vs putting one octave across 4x4 pads. On the 32 pad X they could you rows of 8 knobs across the pads like a the Force. The X pads size wouldn't need to shrink.

if you are talking about crossover, to be honest, i think maschine did a great job, with how you can play the 4x4 pad in chromatic mode. it's really well thought out, and really could play some nice basslines out of one-shot samples.

4x4 is cool for basslines, but as a keys player trying to compose original music 16 pads is too limited if you really want to get down & really play something. 2 octaves is the bare minimum, 3 you can kinda get comfortable, 4 on a groovebox is insane.
sinik wrote:if i remember correctly, the OS of the force was done by a different team, than the one who did the mpc OS. i think the wanted to try some new things out with the force and see how it would sell. wirh push 3 and move they now have some tough competition. i hope they will continue both plattforms individually. although i like some concepts of the force, i would never by an mpc without the classic 16 pad layout. even the one with the mini pad layout dont really feels right to me. so, yeah … mpc x all the way.

So let me get this straight - the Key 37 and Key 61 are MPC's, but more than 16 pads is not? You do realize how pathetically stupid and close-minded this sounds, yes? Or are you so daft that you can't admit you're spouting trash? It's one or other.

jpeg wrote:the 61 and 37 key both feature the classic 16 pads in the 4X4 configuration; that is part of the MPC brand/legacy. Of course the MPC500 was the exception to due to size limitations, but any device that has space for the 4x4 configuration should have that.
