if i remember correctly, the OS of the force was done by a different team, than the one who did the mpc OS. i think the wanted to try some new things out with the force and see how it would sell. wirh push 3 and move they now have some tough competition. i hope they will continue both plattforms individually. although i like some concepts of the force, i would never by an mpc without the classic 16 pad layout. even the one with the mini pad layout dont really feels right to me. so, yeah … mpc x all the way.

You wouldn't buy a MPC with 32 pads?
Even with 2 banks side by side you could put your main samples on bank B & then put other samples on bank A & C so when you switch to A/B or B/C, bank b with your main samples are still playable. 32 would also give you a 2 octave piano that better IMO, for playing synth parts vs putting one octave across 4x4 pads. On the 32 pad X they could you rows of 8 knobs across the pads like a the Force. The X pads size wouldn't need to shrink.

I have the 2500, but I like playing on the Force pads better. I didn't see that coming. But I get why other like the big pads eps those with fat fingers. I also hope they keep both platforms, it good to have options & for gen Akai gave us a lot to choose from. I don't see that stopping. The Force getting drop first makes sense. It was already on 3.0 for years & it still has dope features that's not on MPC3 & some that can never put on any MPC. For it to keep staying competitive it would need a new gen.

never! lol :) i had the push 2 for a moment, but i just couldnt get along those tiny pads, even for playing synth parts (much prefer a keyboard). i like the "big" original mpc pads, when i lay down drums, it feels like playing an instrument, the push never gave me that vibe unfortunately.

if you are talking about crossover, to be honest, i think maschine did a great job, with how you can play the 4x4 pad in chromatic mode. it's really well thought out, and really could play some nice basslines out of one-shot samples.

I never mentioned tiny pads. I said the pads won't shrink. Would like a MPC with 32 big pads?

4x4 is cool for basslines, but as a keys player trying to compose original music 16 pads is too limited if you really want to get down & really play something. 2 octaves is the bare minimum, 3 you can kinda get comfortable, 4 on a groovebox is insane.

people who need more then 4X4 can get the key 37 or 61 or the Force; but MPC with more then 16 pads is not an MPC

Finally a rational voice; the 16 pads is just classic; changing that would be disastrous cos that is doing away with the brand and legacy of roger linns design. lol

So let me get this straight - the Key 37 and Key 61 are MPC's, but more than 16 pads is not? You do realize how pathetically stupid and close-minded this sounds, yes? Or are you so daft that you can't admit you're spouting trash? It's one or other.

the 61 and 37 key both feature the classic 16 pads in the 4X4 configuration; that is part of the MPC brand/legacy. Of course the MPC500 was the exception to due to size limitations, but any device that has space for the 4x4 configuration should have that.

32 Full Size Pads? That Would take up a lot of Real Estate. Us MPC Users are use to those Full Size Pads. Separate units for different User Styles.

The 61 and 37 are completely new takes on the MPC and introduced features that no other MPC ever had before it. Who are you to dictate what an MPC should or should not have? Stop standing in the way of progress and keep your mouth shut. Nothing would ever move forward with people like you. Sad.

It could a separate unit. My point was that 32 pads would be beneficial. Also, I mentioned earlier that to accommodate 32 big pads that the 16 Qlink knobs could be moved across the the top of the pads in 2 rows of 8 like the Force but with 2 rows. The MPC X 32 with MPE would be fire.
