What can you do with CV/Gate..?? Is it some sort of midi or can you see it as an additional audio output..?? And what happend to Spdif..?? That protocol could easily handle multiple outputs over just one cable. Or is it an outdated protocol?

Gear I am maybe going to sell to fund this since it will no longer be needed: my MOTU Audio interface. Maschine and Studio Pad controllers, Cirklon (we'll see), and my midi interface.

its 6 outs, dont count outs 1/2 as theres no mix out.

all old school mpc's had a mix out 1/2 and 8 outs builtin or with a addon card (4ketc)

Stuff looks pretty exciting, but I can personally say I would never pay that much considering I can get a maxed out 15' Macbook Pro for a g more or a maxed out PC for close to that price. I'm digging the standalone option, but i'll bet these things are gonna be hooked up to computers more often than not since it's 2017 and there's too many vst's that we all need. I own a Touch, so the Live has "meh" appeal to me, especially considering it has 16gb of internal storage... like you guys put a thumb drive in there? Sh*t, an internal 500 gb ssd costs like 150 nowadays.

I have 2 beefs with 2.0 that may or may not be proven wrong: 1) No flex markers for audio? Just "insert bpm" and it warps? Pretty much guarantees I'm still using Ableton to warp audio before I import it. 2) Is there still no glide option for keygroups? Kind of a deal breaker for monophonic sounds (808z dood). But really, that's why I generally don't lay those sounds down in mpc.

All that said, these will both be pretty dope and I'm sure the screens will be better than the one on my Touch But I still don't think this thing is gonna cater to my music without using a full-fledged DAW. I guess we'll find out in a month or 2.

CV = control voltage. Pre-midi gear, analog gear with no midi implementation used a control voltage method to control parameters. Can be converted to midi or vice versa to integrate with newer gear.

I was an early adopter of the Ren. I loved the simple work flow BUT I had a rough time with the software(constant freezes and crashes!!) I ended up selling the Ren around version 1.7 or so. I bought an MV8800 (with the Mv8 OP expansion)and a Roland MC909.

I recently sold my MC909 so Im looking for a portable version of my MV8800 to use at gigs. Im hoping the MPC Live will meet my needs. My biggest concern is the stability of the software. IF the software proves to be reliable this time around then eventually I may sell my MV8800 to purchase the MPC X too.

Has the overall stability of the MPC software improved?

CV/Gate is used for Eurorack stuff and other vintage modular synth setups. It has made a comeback the past ten years or so. It uses primitive voltage signals to control this old (and new) gear. Very cool and fun to play around with.

Here is Deadmau5 playing around with his huge modular setup. It is all being controlled using CV/Gate. That's what all this cables are patching I/O.

The price doesn't bother, considering we paid about the same years ago for equipment. I'm just hoping the the price is justified. I felt that it would be around $2k but I'm hoping that the midi will be just as tight as the 4000 and I want to see how this thing sounds.

It's a modern device. It won't sound like anything; i.e., no coloration. And trust me, that's how the old MPCs were designed to sound, too: clean, but the then contemporary components made them sound so crusty and lo-fi.
How the X/Live will sound is entirely up to you, just like with Ren and Touch and any modern DAW.

I/O is better for sure on the MPC X, but I use doepfer dark link midi to cv converters, my midi controllers are actual hardware synths, don't use a PC (gave up Ableton and PC after ten years of use). I'm not saying the MV beats it, I'm saying it has features implemented that 2.0 is just addressing now, is a full blown workstation, has the 8 audio tracks and no need for PC integration.

Don't misread that I think the MV is going to beat it. I just don't think it makes an MV obsolete yet.

I agree, and that's what I prefer.. Clean sound, Let me decide how I color my sound..

That's pretty awesome. The touch screen is good but you could do a lot of damage without even putting a finger on it.

Ticks all the boxes for me, 8 analog out, phono in, multiple line ins, mic ins, 4 midi out, 2 midi in, footswitch in, ttb in, and CV is a bonus.

The Sound on Sound demo looks like the thing is just about ready to go.

The look of 2.0 is so cool, takes me back to Atari Pong... that's what we want as musicians, simple, fast, dependable.

I'm in. Ren up for sale.

Anybody know what multisample formats can be imported into it?
