There's no step edit (list editor) in the standalone, yet.
The X has a fine step editor.. it is called grid view..
Grid edit is no step editor, and it's not really that fine either. For example you currently cannot edit any automation or modulation events (e.g. qlink tuning, filter sweeps, 16 levels data and so on), no editing or any type of MIDI event other than velocity and 'note' events - that is incredibly limiting for many people. You cannot even copy and paste notes in the grid editor. Akai has some way to go to get these aspects of the standalone OS in check.
But cannot find a Tempo-Track
The MPC Software does not support tempo change events in any shape or form (unlike all previous MPCs).
There is no way to change the tempo of a song except for using multiple sequences each with a different tempo, which doesn't really work if you want to perform a gradual increase/decrease. Nor will that work if you 'convert song to seq' as that will produce a single sequence with single BPM. Unfortunately 'song to seq' is pretty much a requirement if you want to do stuff like laying audio tracks across a song.
All head-scratching stuff from Akai.
