Anyone here like Dubstep?

I use my MPC to make Dubstep, anyone else? From what I gather is people on this forum dont like dupstep. Why? Alot has rap in it and more and more rappers are getting into it. Is it to much bass? To much wobbel? I think almost all forms of music are DEAD. Maybe dubstep is just too loud, you know what they say, if its too loud then your to old.

1. Dubstep is now a flavour of the month thing, and like countless genres before it is going through the dumbing down process. That's what a lot of people don't like... generic, formulaic gash, watered down to make it more user friendly, and the fickle nature of the people who latch onto music scenes as a form of trend.

2. It's nothing to do with too much bass, because that's precisely what the genre revolves around. Too much wobble possibly, but only in reference to the fact that most people think dubstep starts and stops with an LFO.

3. You have an ironically negative attitude towards music, particularly if you're a fan of the dubstep scene.

4. There's a difference between too loud, and over-compressed/limited. And chances are, if you think it's too loud then you're simply not some brain dead child who doesn't appreciate the value of looking after the only set of ears they're blessed with.

its only "flavor of the month" in some places, theres definitely a scene. what makes it "flavor of the month" is the temporary spotlight it had/has amongst teen girls and "bros" trying to be cool, but thats not what the whole genre is about. i like how it sounds but the only problem i have with it is that it all sounds the same to me. but maybe im just ignorant

Tru, drunkmonkey has a point. They go too high or just to dam low, it is starting to sound all the same. But I think the US is relly starting to kick it up. Like bassnectar.

yeah that joint was from 06, that group is the business. the same thing that happened to hip hop is happening to dubstep right now (but faster), but there's still some artists making proper classic shit

like all other genres of which people believed they would fade out after a couple of years (techno, drum&bass, even hiphop was seen as a 'gimmick' in the beginning) , dubstep will be a genre that will stay and diversify.
all new genres were 'flavours of the month' once
dubstep has been around for so long that there are allready quite some very different subgenres in it

sure, and I quite like some of it, and being flavour of the month doesn't mean it's a gimmick or it won't stick around

but it is flavour of the month, you can tell that by the number of recent mentions it gets on this site and others, especially by people going "I love it, why don't you like it? is it too loud for you?"

noone's doing that for other genres now, going "I love hiphop, I bet you guys don't because you're not as cool as me"

and that's because dubstep is flavour of the month and people think they're cooler than the rest of us for liking it. well I live in London and was listening to it years ago so

My "flavour of the month" comment is in reference to it's recent notoriety it seems to have gained of late, I'm well aware people like El-B were nurturing the early sounds in the days of UKG a long long time ago.

But people jump onto any bandwagon, and it's the age old case of the Emperor's new clothes. There's no doubt it will be around for a long time to come, it's just the unfortunate hype that surrounds genres for a time before they go back underground and the sound actually has some space to progress again.

yeah dubsteps been around for a while. But theres a recent trend of poor drum work, LFO modulated Low pass filters and ridiculous amounts of resampling, bitcrushers, and distortion.
But its pretty deep, and there's some really good stuff below the service of bro
