It is important to understand how this "choppy sample" sequence would happen.

Let's say, you want to chop 1 bar drum break sample into two chops. And you've successfully looped the whole sample in MPC, say 100.0 BPM.

If you chop like figure A, no overlapping, most likely you'll end up like figure B when it is sequenced in MPC, in the same BPM. Yes, you can set fade in and out to zero, but most likely those two chopped samples are not in the same length, most likely you'll end up getting some gap between the chops. You can avoid the gap by simply speeding up (increasing the BPM) by a bit, but that's not always what you want. (the loop will sound awkward.)

I always chop samples with overlapping parts with each chops. I haven't used autochop type of functions, but if you use it, I think it is important to know how each chopped samples are taken from which part.

With chopped samples with overlapping parts (Figure C), you can apply fade in and fade out, enabling smooth loop.

Did you chop by eye or by ear? On a 2000 (or 2000xl)?
chop the endpoint by ear because of a false waveform display.

Also add 1 or 2 bpm as mentioned above

Play the drum pattern through your speakers, and record it through a mic to get more of a room tone. Put in the mix and blend them

OR

RJD2

gets silence from records and fills it in (might be a pain in the ass if the measures are more then 4/4)

you can replace the "silence" by a hihat sample that is long enough to play gapless 8th on the tempo (something like 400ms and you should be out of gaps for a beat down to 75 bpm) and play that hihat on the chops with the gap at the end.

Good suggestions all around. I just want to throw in the very basic but sometimes still useful 80's technique of small amounts of delay applied to slightly lengthen the sustain and release of the back end of the chop. Just a small amount, not so much you get an actual full repeat. Obviously you want a free running delay that you can set in milliseconds for this.
