This is the question: Is it possible to send the mpc swing via midi clock?
I have a mpc 2000 classic and a lots of analog drum machines and i would use just one swing for all, so i would use the swing of my mpc like a master swing. Is it possible?
Thanks!!

You can program the pattern of those drummachines inside the MPC. Does it gives you what you want..??..IDK. I don't belive in the so called MPC swing. swing settings are pure math and you can do it with every DAW.

yes i can make it in that way, but i just prefer to use internal sequencer of my machines because i have a lots of patterns inside of them and i should copy them.
I would use the MPC swing just because i don't use computer, my daw is my MPC so it is my master clock!!

swing wont be transmitted as far as i know.

i agree with peter, record the drum machine sequence into your mpc and take it to the next level.

as already mentioned, the only way you're going to be able to send "mpc swing" via MIDI would be if you're sequencing from within the MPC. the swing only works within the MPC's sequencer.

you say you have sequences already made in those other sequencers... and you want to apply the mpc swing to those already existing sequences??

i think the only way you'd be able to do that would be if you saved the sequences as a MIDI file, then loaded the MID file into your MPC... then assign samples, etc and adjust the T.C. & swing to what you had in mind and see if it does the trick. it's still sequencing within the MPC though... there's no way around that to get the swing.

it actually works very well to simply record the midi data from another box right into an mpc sequence via a midi cable. once i started doing this it opened up a ton of possibilities.

that too... as long as you can manage to sync them up properly.

This.

Or try slaving the drum machines to the MPC via MIDI.

its really not hard especially with quantisation - just set yer tempos to the same in the mpc and the drum machine - or slave the device via midi clock and record the pattern back into the mpc in real time, or slave the mpc to the device.
you can record the pattern into a seq that is a couple times bigger than the original pattern, so you make sure you get it all - but if you are syncing via midi clock you shouldn't have to worry about that. its always worked perfectly for me.

all depends on the piece of gear really... some gear just has midi sync issues... the MC-303 comes to mind.

but i'm with you guys... the only solution here is to use the MPC for sequencing. period.

point taken - but really would those issues affect it over one pattern with timing correct on?
i dont know about the sync issues of that particular machine - just in my experience this method has always worked way better than i ever thought it would.

^^Have you experience with that method with the MPC Quatize set to OFF?? Would be interesting to see if the notes really fall on point or if they are a bit off. I dont have any other gear with a sequencer atm so I can't check it myself.

If you are sequencing in the mp, the device you are triggering is going to play a note whenever the MP sends the note on message....timing correct on or off, doesn't matter. You can record a sequence into a track via external midi (from the device), internal midi (from the mpc), or drum program and the timing correct/swing function the EXACT same way....I think you are all over thinking it and making it way more complex than it actually is.

There are 96 "spots" to record information to in the mpc per quarter note...where you record the data is up to you!
