Oh yes I know that tune. The bass seem to be run thru one of these stompbox FX. An envelpoe filter in this case (just like the guitar in the beginning of "God make me funky") This filter amplifies the more higher bassfrequencies and creates some "smacking" noises. I just loaded it into my audio editor and played around a bit. With a highpass filter with steep curve and a frequency at something like 380Hz you can get rid of most of the bass without killing the horns too much (the strings are playing in a complete different range and will be unaffected). But there is a lot of other stuff goin on in this track. Epiano, guitar the drums. IDK how you want it to sound and what other samples you mix it to but when I cut out the bass like in this case I also put a lo pass filter or a high shelf EQ on it to smoothly get rid of the higher frequencies that often sound a bit harsh (to my ears).
