1200 accesories

They sell the pitch for $22. I've only had to replace the l.e.d. on the pitch before but it should be pretty easy to replace the pitch itself.

Yes, yer gonna have to disassemble the 1200 and keep track of all the screws you take off from the bottom (There is a lot of them). And yes, you do have to unsolder the pitch to remove and replace it. Here's the manual...

Technics 1200MK2 manual

Also, don't double post questions young blood. one..............

A new pitch in UK fitted costs bout $50/60. Unless ya happy taking ya deck to bits to do yourself Id say small price to pay. Theres also chance of electrical shorts, which could take time to cause problems, if liquids got in.
They are pretty solid though & can take some s*** but id get a new pitch professionally fitted, they could also give it the once over to check all ok..

Sorry, but Juke's picture of
the "Drum Machines Have no Soul"
bumper sticker really pissed me off...

so I called the phone number on
it to scream on whoever; insult them, etc.

Well, what I got on the other end was
a Piano Player/ engineer in Los Angeles
who's pops owned a huge rocording
facility, which
mr. machine hater also ran for that
over 25 yrs. Anyway, he was real peace,
and was very engraciating of the fact that
I use electronics to produce music.
He says he loves great electronic music.
His beef is that after multitrack recording
was introduced, it took music as a business
out of the hands of the capable, and into the
hands of those with a lot less talent.
Now, that's his take. I definately agree
that IF you could somehow compare apples to oranges,
Nat King Cole was a better singer
than Puffy is a producer. I think you could argue
that ish that classy does make something like
a Bad Boy (post biggie) record seem disposable. But also
I agree that more tracks and cheaper stuff
has made music more disposable in general.
Back then, if it wasn't incredible music, it never got
released. Now it's like, if you have a southern accent
and/or got shot in the leg, you are considered 'sought after'
Turntablists and hiphop producers may not be
'real musicians' to alot of talented people accross the
globe, and that's something I can;t change and don't care
to convince anyone of. But the guy is right in one sense:
We used to have fantastic music that defined us
as a country and as a culture. And that, as
a shining light and a high artform, is dead to us
at this point in time. I agree with this dude that
alot of folks now don't have respect for standards like
PITCH, TIMING, AND MUSICIANSHIP, that used to
define who you were and your rep. How come people who listen to hiphop AND some big producer in LA who HATES hiphop are all saying the same thing?
"We are very much in need of some good music!"
So, anyway, go make some funky
sh!t.

Damn Trupro, good going.

Now, I still like Bjorks' response. If there's no soul in the music its because nobody put it there. It's not the machine's fault.

Thanks for the info on that trupro. I have had 2 people PM me hatin' on it asking why I got that in my signature and on a Midi production center (MPC) website. I didn't mean to offend or piss anyone off with the bumper sticker. I just thought is was funny as hell. Thats why I put on the bottom "...thats why I have an MPC". I've been meaning to call that number and see whats up wit it. But I'm overseas and I'm a cheap bastard .

Oh no doubt, your the man for posting the pic in the first place. I knew by the "...that's why..." at the bottom you
tryin to say, yeah 'it's not just my drum machine, it's the MPC!', And like the creator of the sticker said, it's there to illicit a whole bunch of different responses from people. Maybe he was just tired of getting yelled at. More important than me understanding that the guy doesn't hate me cus I like electronics is the fact that, HE got to have a meaningful dicussion about music with a total stanger who makes hiphop with drum machines!
It's like a real cat told me once, it's always gonna be newer, better, faster.
It doesn't take away from the human element, because shit will always be defined by the quality of the person USING the machine, not the other way around. You seen that mackie add for the Onyx? It's got a mixer hooked up to a laptop, and the quote is:
"If your music sucks, it will still suck. You'll just make it alot faster."
true indeed...
