We have Pad Banks [A,B,C,D]

Each loads 12 samples (12 pads duh) and there are 4 Pad banks.

Of course you can add layers (playing several beats at once)

12*4 = 48 samples in 4 Pad banks ;)

wrong.

there are 48 assignable pads (with up to 4 samples on each)...
Per program.

you can have multiple programs per sequence.

The MPC-500 can in total have 12*4*4*99 samples, that is 19008 samples assigned at once, BUT!! (i tried this) it can "only" have 999 samples in memory.

I'm just getting into my 500 after never using samplers before, I always just used synths live... but now I can sample off my synths and have all the pads, patterns, beats, whatever saved in this tiny little box!!

And now i've just read this, it is even better than i thought for live use!

So just to clarify (for my small brain!) I can have all the samples I need for a whole show in the box under 99 different progs and then flip between sequences and songs that i've pre programmed??? So that I don't have to bother stopping and loading between songs???

If I've got that right then that is wicked! I don't use layers and thought i'd be limited to just 48... but now that means I have 576 samples ready to trigger across as many different sequences as I want to pre-program! That's more than enough for me!

Have I got that right?

Thanks

I don't know where i got that figure from... 12x4x99=4752 (that's not using the 4 layers!)... but like you said 999 samples max

He can have 576 samples in memory. But the max is 999 samples.
