linn drum+mpc 1000=too much of a good thing ..or not?

it looks like the end of summer before we can get our hands on the latest mpc inspired piece of hardware.. just on sheer looks alone i think roger linn may have outdid akai's last 5 mpc models!!

i'm definitely looking forward to this. it's fun working on the mpc but i'm looking to get away from the 32 voice polyphony limit & just general lack of cpu power. i need hardware with some true sample twisting power & powerful modulation options like a modern piece of gear should have. also getting tired of the os losing features every time new ones are introduced. when the Linndrum 2 is released, if it meets my expectations, i'll buy it in a second and the mpc will get demoted.

but just to note, the Linndrum is NOT going to look like the pictures on that page. they've already changed the design but aren't releasing what the current design looks like. i think it's going to be a pretty powerful unit.

yah mon! been on the pre-order list for over a year now...hope it actually launches!

im a big fan of dave smith's synths in general, i mean something like the evolver is so inspiring to use right out of the box, you twist a couple of knobs and youre off and running. The man definitely puts a lot of care into his products.. and as for roger linn well.. this forum would not exist without his contributions to electronic music making... i dont think those two guys could possibly make a disappointing product with the amount of time they are putting into it.... even if it does turn out to be beyond expectations i dont think it will deter alot of people who have gotten comfortable working with the mpc to stop using the mp just because something superior has come along.. christ look at all the software out nowadays that can run rings around the mpc.. hell perfect example of that is just checkout some of the demos on youtube of open labs neko's and miko's all these guys getting free endorsments from open labs (im assuming) play up the open lab machines like they only use it exclusivley, meanwhile they all have an asr10 or mpc right alongside the open labs stuff.. i own a miko and i still use my mpc because its comfortable and it sounds great, bottom line... alright whew im done i need a gatorade.. peace yall.

Dave Smith and Roger Linn together. This double is so freakin' amazing I can't even imagine what they are cookin' in secret.

I mean, Dave Smith is "only" the best synth designer ever, and Roger Linn... well, he "just" created the MPC.

I can't wait to see what's coming from them....!

I dont understand why the topic is said PLUS MPC 1000. this looks like a sexy beast why would you need the mpc 1000 after coping this machine. can someone tell me what the mpc 1000 dosent have that the lin drum has?

At the minute the 1k has everything that the Linn doesn't have as you can actually buy it!
