If it is true that you can no longer purchase JJ0S 1&2...
then yes.. I will probably make the switch.
XL took away some features, to add new ones. I was set to buy OS1/2 to enhance my workflow and boom...
Features gone.

If im not gonna be able to get the JJOS I want.. might as well have the MPC which is still supported by Akai. The 5k has a feature I would love to have, that no JJOS has.

You get JJ OS 1 & 2 free when you buy XL. No need to get the 5000.

the fact that nobody really will embrace the 5000 is a marketing nightmare for akai.... in any situation the look and feel as well as simplicity in the 25k is golden....buy a 2500 and with the money left over from what u would have spent getting a 5000 cop some plugins for ur DAW or diapers for your kid lol.....but i still havent got to touch one and I'm hating on it..I got a day off this week from work so I'm heading to Guitar Center to molest that machine for a bit lol....maybe I'll try to shoplift that sh*t and auction it off here on this forum haha

Good Look.

I did a few searches on the subject, but couldnt find anything definative saying what was up with that. (Didnt search hard enough?)

Anyway... I definately like the bigger screen of the 5k. The new OS is nice as well. Depending what functions you can assign to the sliders, working on on it could possibly be insaine. Whether or not I get one, I like the 5k. From what I can see.. it has a purpose. 2.5k is a tad more portable though. That and the JJOS are why I chose it instead.

Yup thats wat I did. I took a 4 bar sample and a kit of drums on a CF card and took it to GC to try out the 5000. I chopped up my sample and laid out my drums, pretty much made a beat on the machine. I wasnt feeling the workflow on it. The Chop Shop 2.0 is a joke compared to the JJ chopping system, the synth was okay, wasnt feeling the screen or the layout of the screen and overall the OS is way behind JJ.

The dudes at GC thought I was nuts for bringing my own sounds to test the machine out. One of the dudes told me, "Wat the... You even brought a sample to chop up???"

That was pretty wise the way you did that if you ask me,if the guys at GC had any brains they would have samples and such set up so they dont get $3000 unit coming back to the store after someone finds they arent satified with the machine. I was thinking about upgrading to the 5000 from the2500, more for the synth, but ive changed my mind thanks to the info on this forum

Synth alone? Id agree. Not worth it to me for just that either. Slides, screen and other extras = Yum. At least for me... lol. Im selling some stuff here soon. Maybe I will get one and put em side by side, then see which one I use more.

Dudes at GC rarely know anything. The way you did it is the ONLY way I'd want to go down there if I was specifically there to try the 5k. The stock sounds could never really tell what I wanna know.

i have 2500 jjos xl and its a great maschien i really dig the step sequencer the chord feat or the arp...but i have tested the 5000 and i like it aswell...the synth is easy to edit the big screen is usefull , maybe i would trade my 2500 for a 5000...

what would you fellas say about the comparison of the feel of the machine? the sturdiness, pads, buttons etc. which feels more comfortable to work on or are they both basically one and the same
