Low Volume

When I listen to a sample in the load mode or trim mode is fairly loud but when I hit the pads myself the volume is pretty low. Anyone know why it would be doing this?

EDIT: I also have full level on.

EDIT: Normalize doesn't seem to do anything either.

Is the pad velocity set to 100 instead of the standard 70?

When your previewing or editing, your listening to the sound without the effects and levels that you have set in sequence mode.

The sample volumes are auto set to 70 at first in seq mode so that you can turn them up or down relative to each other. But in edit and preview they are at full, 100.

Just get used to it, thats just the way it works.
For instance if you had a sample that was turned way down in your loop, you'd want to be able to hear it if you needed to cut it without having to turn it up again in program mode first.

Keep spinning the data wheel clockwise real fast while in the level field. Tap pad 1, 2, 3 ... 12 and you'll have them set for all banks in under a minute. Save this as an empty program and load it up whenever you need to use it as a template for a new program, or set it as autoload if you always want full.

maybe I'm wrong ..but I noticed that if you turn up the volume on pad levels you have to turn up the head room from -6 to -12, to avoid the machine to produce clips or distortion.
I mean, the volume of this machine is low, cause is a battery powered inst, so isn't so useful to get all the pads at level 100 and turn the headroom value to -12... the final volume is the same...
If you play side by side with another MPC (2000, 1000, etc..) you'll notice that the two mpcs play at the same volume when the 2000 has the vol knob at 12:00 and the 500 has vol knob at max.
That's no way to get the 500 play louder by itself..
