Simult & Mute Groups

Could someone please give a few examples of when the simult/mute groups would come in handy..I guess I understand them in theory, but haven't really come across a situation where I needed them to improve my mix. I'm sure there are some great applications for them though, so.....

simult: layering drum sounds, making a 5th from a single note sample

mute groups: cutting your open hat with the closed hat, keeping your bass patch mono (assuming youre using more than 1 bass sound for a bassline)

simult: Drum Layering- Having complete control over each sample/layer.

eg. Filters, Amp, LFO

If you layer within a pad the settings for the pad effect all layers. So simult is the way to go if you want the crack of a snare with a different tail or a nice snappy kick with a sub kick.

yeah, i'm waitin on this before i move to osxl.

i use simult to shape my drums with the adsr. two or three combined snares, for example, all triggering simultaneously with differing adsr settings, filters and velocity settings make for a real hearty and full bodied snare.

as for mute groups, i use this with the note on feature to record my track mutes. there may be an easier way to do this... but this is how i do it
