how do I save my sh*t properly. Im having problems saving my sounds. When I want to save my sh*t, I get "error etc.." like instead of "insert second disk" I made 2 songs this weekend, but I could only save the beats and the basslines.Any suggestions?

dam, do I need that zip drive sh*t? skool me on it, as it pertains to savin sh*t. Yo I made two beats, but I had to cut out other sound to save space. This is my fist time saving with the 3.10. Is there a way I can use multiple disks? when I run out of space it says "error etc..." I am only limited to saving certain amount of sounds. What up?

It should say insert another disk.

Make sure you save the programs with replace same sounds on disk, that way any changes you made to the sounds will be reflected in the program, and new ones saved along with it. Then, save all sequences and songs. If you use song mode and want to work on one song, I recommend loading the one sequence from all sequences and songs and renaming that to the title of your song and saving all sequences and songs with a new name.

It sounds like you got a disk error. Try cleaning your drive with one of those drive cleaner disks from radio shack. and if you get the error again, write down exactly what it says. You are using DD disks right?

the floppy says 2HD 1.44MB. I saved the parameter, sequence and sounds. Im curious, forat gave me one disk with ike a sound on every single pad on all 4 banks, how in the hell did he get all those sounds on one disk????

I usually fill up all 4 banks in my 60.

I was thinking about this today as it is about time for a new drum kit. I like sampling in the 60 more than I like it in my larger capacity samplers because I have to judge each sound on quality and length. I will often get enough snare but find another one so I will find the weakest already sampled snare and replace it.

I never compress my sounds unless it is a very long sample that I really want in the 60 and can't fit the rest in.

I like the challenge and it makes me have to be creative in what I want to use to complete the kit.

You may want to leave long samples in the 303, (dope because you can change the bpm accurately to match the 60's sequence) and put the shorter sounds in the 60. As you do this you will get a sense of how much you can fit in there and what memory each kind of sounds takes (bass, snares, short melodies), And also chop your shit tight. I keep the tails as long as I can but if I have to cut it short I cut it where it has already faded enough to just slap a short envelope decay on it and it will still sound natural.

You should not use 1.44 disks in your drive, get some 720K DS/DD disks from ebay or some surplus stores. About $20 for 50-100 of them.

Yo ELM, your missin a really big thing there. Compressing the drum hits on the 60 just adds another dimension to the drum sounds....Try it

I tried it before, I didn't like the sound on the drums I did, so I use it selectively. I'll give it another go, but I don't think it will stick.

why/ whats the difference as it relates to the 60? This may sound stupid, but is it because the 720k disks can hold more?

also, when you compress thye sound, can you tune/decay it?
the decay, playing with it is my favorite thing about the 60.

the magnetic fields needed for the HD 1.44 disks are different and the drive in the 60 isn't designed for that so the use of HD 1.44Mb disks will wear out over time and the disks won't hold the information very well since the writing of the DD drive doesn't produce a strong enough signal. That's what I heard, the explanation might be wrong, but they do mess up your drive and data eventually.

DD disks hold less, half the 60's memory, but is it worth losing your drive o save on disks? You can use HD disks to load some sounds, but don't use them for everyday saving and loading. Save anything from a HD disk top a DD disk.

When you compress you lose some tuning ability, it subtracts 60 from the lower tune amount from the tune level you put in the field. I usually tune it to +60. it kinda sucks and that's another reason I don't like doing it.

elmacaco, I came across the w-30 chord while looking for some speaker wire. the w30 screen looks a little distorted, but not bad, I havent f*cked with it yet, Im in the middle of this beat im doin strictley on the 60. Anyway, Its been like 7 years since I've turned it on!!!!! I remember I got it in like '95, got frustrated , bought the sp 12 like in 96..since then , no W30. But thursday I'll midi it up to the 6o, should be interesting! It's funny that when you turn on the w30, it says "welcome to the world of the w30"....Anyways, good lookin out on that midi info.

Now IfI can only get some sound on my computer speakers!!!!!
