how to stop mpc sample playing over itself when used "live"

hey all

i was wondering if its possible to play samples as "note on" and when pressed again it doesnt play over the top of itself.

i saw it in an mpc battle...also is there a way to assign a hi hat pattern to a pad so when pressed once it plays the pattern?

mono to poly or vice versa...it's been a long time since I've mpc

Switch it to mono.

Yup, switch to Mono in the Parameters screen...

switch the program to mono or assign the sample to a mute group. then have that sample be muted by an empty pad. that way if its a drum program and you have a cymbal with a really long tail, you can cut it when ever you need it cut while having the rest of the samples play in poly mode.
