How hard to hit the pads?

How hard should i be hittin the pads? I don't want to mess up my new machine....

man u aint gonna ruin jack. bang out some beats. u need to break the pads in.

Wha? So are you saying it's good to smoke crack while you make beats?

sometimes, but im a budda head mainly if u smoke crack u wouldnt own an mpc

if you dont wanna hit them hard, all you gotta do it turn the sensitivity UP, you must have OS 1.o4 for this to work ---> mode+other then press f4 for pad sensitivity, turn it up for the pads to take less punch and still produce a manual velocity

also, over timeas the pads wear in, that sensitivity number will have to come down

ive had my MPC for about 3 weeks, and the sensitivity is at the lowest

also, these pads can take quite the beating, so dont stress it. especially if its under warranty still, push it to the limits

i keep mine on full level and i only have to tap the pads,then adjust the volumes how i want, its the neat and safe way

1st use the "Shift {D C B A}" trick to bring up the Pad Test.

2nd use the VLO255 setting. This tells you what the MPC gets in from it's sensors before any sensitivity changes are made (those changes are in software). This uses a scale from 0 to 255 (internal to the MPC only).

3rd use the VLOCITY setting to see how effective your current sensitivity settings are. This uses a scale from 0 to 127 (how load your sample is played internally or over MIDI)

4th go to the sensitivity setting, and adjust everything to work.

In essence, you're "training" the MPC to interpret the pads to sound like you WANT them to sound, so first thing is to figure out what the MPC is thinking. That's step 2. Then you go to step 4 to tell the MPC how to do it right.

My new MPC has 6 stiff pads that I can't get over 60 velocity without pounding it.....

Hold down SHIFT, and press D, C, B, A in that order. (These are the 4 pad bank select buttons).

You'll get a screen that shows slider & pad test screen.

You just need OS 1.04 or later, then use Mode Misc, Pad (F4) to tune the pad/velocity response. They will "bed in" later, go back, Jack, and do it again...
