Did you go to the mac users download site?

www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os.htm

right click / download linked file as -----on the .os2 file

when downloading using Safari the ".os2" file is renamed as a ".os2.txt" file.

highlight the ".os2.txt" file you just downloaded -> in finder -> file -> get info
goto name & extension and delete the ".txt" file name ending so the filename ending is now ".os2" (use os2)

now your .os2 file can be put on cf card.

make sure that you using original 128mb akai cf card which was supplied with you sampler, because for OS upgrades other cards can not be recognized, i dont know why it is,but thats what i experienced when tried to upgrade from akai os 1.23 to 1.24, hope it helps

ps

im on mac and 2500 myself and haven't had any problems to upgrade from os 1.23 to jjos xl couple of days ago, tho i was using akai cf card.

About downloading the OS Files with MAC: I think this is a safari-only issue, because if you use opera or firefox for example, you can save the actual os file. With Safari, you get a .cgi file if you ctrl-click and select "save as...". So use either the mac doewnload page or a different web browser.
