Data wheel: Anyone had to replace,

I have had my 2500 for two years and i was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the data wheel, I can turn it and it barely moves or moves backwards. just wondering if i have to just replace the wheel or the actual board the wheel sits on.

i just did a thread on this its probably a few pages back.

i ended up buying the entire board straight from AKAI cost me i think near 60 bucks. where as the encoder cost about 20.

its a long explanation check a few pages back you should find it. oh and its probably the actual encoder and not the plastic wheel.

Mine hasn't worked for about 2 years now. Exact same problem as yours. I get around it by using the +/- minus keys. The jog wheel on the 25k is the shabbiest of any mpc.

here is what i bought from akai i just went and bought the whole board. cost about 40 bucks more but i think its worth it. especially after the bs i went through when only bought the data wheel.

especially with all them extra tact switches.

ayo is this the board for the 2500? did you install it yourself? was there any soldering involved?

if u replace the whole board then no soldering

dam only 40 dollars more and you get an extra 40tacts and new vol. and rec. encoders also..hella deal,,,but im still going to figure out how to get the 2000xl encoder on there..

xibalba,what r u doing with ur other board?

gonna take it out back and office space it.



probably hang on to it for spare parts desolder the jog wheel since its no good anyways.
