Decided to Paint the 1000 myself, what kind of paint is need

the only reason i'm not having it professionaly done is that I'm just going to be painting it a solid color and there won't be any writing on it at all so it shouldn't be to hard just take of the face and start spraying I assume, but what is the propper kind of paint to use as i don't want to damage the face at all?

proper? rustoleum or similar i would guess. but i would also sand the face lightly and use a primer before painting.

I have the blue/red model, when you say sand lightly do you mean sand off the blue coat or lighter than that?

i mean you want to leave the surface textured so the new paint can adhere easier. you dont have to sand off the paint to bare metal. use a high grit paper too.

btw this should prolly be in the mpc 1000 forum.

go to your local hobby shop and buy pactra paint for lexan bodies,,,its much more durable.

some paint is self priming, but you should ask the hobby store.

you two have my utmost gratitude your help is gonna make all the difference, if I could ask one more thing it would be does anyone know the name of the exact paint color on the mpc 2000 as that is the color I want my 1000 and my 500?

you dont need to use sand paper. all you need is some scotch brite. its a green course pad used for lightly scuffing paint. you dont need to sand off all the original paint. just scuff it down so the new paint will stick. prime it, let it dry, and paint it. clear coat it if you want.
