New VS Old

My bro has a 2000xl and I have a 1000 and he wont stop ranting about how much the older model MPC's have there own certain sounds and the newer MPC's all sound the same.
Any one agree?

You can compare yourself. Do you agree? That's all that matters.

I do not think there is much off a difference between a 2000 or 1000 soundwise.

This issue has been discussed several times.

Anyway, the majority thinks there's a slight difference between the 2kxl and the newer mpc's.
They're both 16bit, but the 2k(xl) seems to sound a little bit warmer.

yea thats what I would tell him. Then I would hit him with a sock full of zip disks while he is sleeping. When he gets up ask him if he wants a comparison of how the same sock would feel if it was stuffed with an internal HD from a 1k

Personally, I think your bro doesn't know what he's talking about. Sounds like he heard someone somewere mention that & he has no clue about the 60/3000, etc...

I think I have to say that the 2000xl sounds "classic", warm, and smooth.

I think the 1000 sounds bright, punchy and, accurate.


Mainly,

the 2000 series has only one filter without the effects card. so, you really can only do a low pass filter, which removes the high frequencies. This alone is enough to make the sound different in the way you produce beats on it as compared to the 1000.

The 1000 has so many options, that I find my music sounding more digital because Im adding effects right off the bat to try to pull the sound to where I want it, when I should have done more before i sampled it. plus compression, reverb,

there is really no way to compair the two sound wise.

If anyone wants, I can do a dry drum break on the 1000 vs 2000 vs 3000, to see what the difference really is.

Get JJOS and hit him in the face with Grid Edit mode.

1000 sounds clear and accurate...

2000 has some slight 'tape saturation' to it what people call warmer, more this more that blahblahblah...

There are deffo differences in sound.

Beats are all that matter...
