First of all, I'm using MPC1000 JJ OS1 v4.99.

What I would like to do is have one pad triggerring several sounds in an alternating way.

So say pressing pad01 four times repeatedly will give

(Kick: Hat: Snare: Hat: Kick: Hat: Snare: Hat: Kick: Hat: Snare: Hat:) and so on...

Im pretty sure this was a function of the 2500 when it was released but not sure whether this has been included in any of the newest JJ OS 2 or whatever.

Does anyone have any idea as to whether or not it can b done on a 1000 and if so which version of JJ do I need?

P.S. I was kinda thinkin it would be cool to have your kick drum on Bank A triggering different bass notes or whatever stored on Bank B so that when you play the drums the whole bass line plays rather than just using simult pad or layers to trigger on bass note....

Rite im probly waffling on now, ne help would b much appreciated

I think that the only way to do that would be the velocity layers. assign those samples to different velocity regions and then adjust the level of the samples to compensate for the low velocity one. Now that I think about it, though, why the hell would you want to do this anyway?? Are you that cramped for pad space on your programs? Seems like a very clumsy, in-efficient way to get anything done. You're trippin homie...

And btw, tha fvkk is wrong with simult anyway?

hi

with akai os it works as follows:

- make a program with one required pad assignment (maybe on a1)
- assign a program change number to it (1)
- make other programs with pad a1. assign an other program change number to it
- repead for all other needed sounds.

then make a sequence and insert short before you need the new sound a program change with the previously assigned program change numbers. don't forget to assign at the last tic the first pad (program change number 1).

as log as the sequence is playing, the programs are shifted and the pad is changing the sound.

with this method, you can't play the wrong sound ... ;)

ok so like i said, if you had different bass notes on B05 which were alternating, then you could have your kick drum (usually on A05 for me) simultaneously playing the bass notes. So when you play the drums every kick drum would play a different bass note. Once you understood how the track was working you could do so much more with this method.

Someone asked how I'm so pushed for space. I generally fill the whole first bank with drums sounds so i can play different fills manually i.e. different hats (open/closed), different snares, toms, crashes......

Yeh safe neways, i figured a next way of doing it aswell.........
