mpc 60 + mpc 3000

i wanna use them side by side, sync'd
whats the best way to do this, midi out, to midi in on both machines, then set one to slave to midi timecode ? what about changing bars etc..

any help would be really appretiated

I would think it would be quite redundant, but I would think you would use the sequencer of one and slave the other per song. Otherwise, the whole bars and sequence thing would be a problem.

I'd probably use the 3000 and slave the 60, but at that point, a rack makes more sense to me for the 12 bit sound (or for the 16 bit, although I think the 3000 would have a faster processor so would be quicker for sequencing and chopping).

well i would simply just use the 3000, but damn kicks and snares sound so much better on the 60! so i wanna do all my drums on the 60, except hihats.. they sound way nicer on the 3k
i know thats bein picky.. i was sorta hoping mpc's would be really smart as a pair and recording/sequencing them together would be easy

ALSO, is there a tap tempo average option on either of these machines ?
so i can turn on tap tempo average to 4 and have more accuracy on beatmatching ?

Not Really just not as Crisp,but nothing the filter can't handle which is why
chose the MPC 3000 or over the MPC 60II.

Why got thru all that?? Just get an s950, it has a 16 bit processor
but a 12bit sample engine, or just get s1000,or 3000 for that matter!

I'd sequence a few tracks on the 60, then a few tracks on the 3000, see what strengths and weaknesses each has, and which you like better for what.

The filter doesn't equate the 12 bit sound. but it is a nice feature of the 3000.

You could sample your kicks and snares into the 60 then sample from that to the 3000, it should give you what you are after.

I predict that you will get rid of one of them eventually.or just not use them both as much.

I was gonna contest this one also but I got sidetracked......

The 60 and 3000 sound very similar. Side by side the 60 sounds alittle warmer and alittle louder which I think has to do with the 12bit vs. 16bit argument. Keep in mind that my 60 has the 4db boost done by Forat. Without that the 3000 would be louder. The 2 machines are very close.

Can you post the same sample sampled into each machine if you don't mind?

My home studio is being rebuilt so I won't have audio for awhile....I did a 3000 comparison to the SP1200 yesterday and I could swear that the 3 sounded just as full. I did it again today and the SP won hands down.

When you find a perfect drum break on an old lp with a little dust on it...thats a SP. The 3 sounds good also. Kick wise I liked the MP better...had more bass, more bottom end but the SP sounded more in your fact, up front...the snares...forgetaboutit...the SP won hands down. The way those machines sound is just amazing. I ran both samples off of vinyl, through a stereo reciever, no mixer, matched the gain as evenly as I could and ran the SP out of output 8(dry). The SP has a mixer function where you can boost the sample's volume but I matched them by ear without boosting...I 'll do a more professional comparison when the tudio's done.....

It almost sounds as if ur gettin 2 technical "around" ur craft than into it. Ur taken too much away from productivity as I 1nce did.

Just get wit her. Shes likes 2 b beaten. She'll love u 4 it.(MPC3000). Shes now the only girl in my life that loves me 2 beat her. And she wants it! Others hear her and thinks she's loud. but thats just her xpressing herself. She has alot built up n side her.
