I don't know what topic this belongs in, but I have a 500 so I guess I'll post here.
How do you guys save your work? I always save it as a project.
1. But I was wondering if there was a more organized way to do it. Because it looks so messy when I look at the files on the mpc from my computer. There are all these .wav files in random places (because when I save as a project, it makes another copy of the wav file....? And then there are sequence and program files just sitting around. I just would think there is a better way to do it. This disorganization is why I only have one song I'm working on on my mpc at once.
2. But for live shows, when I get that good, i'd want to bring more stuff with me, right? And how would I load more than song on? Because aren't the sequences attached to the number sequence it is? Like, if I had Sequence 1 of one song, then Sequence 1 of another song, wouldn't something get f*cked up? Or would I have to go through the trouble of uploading each song at a time and copying them to new, further back sequence slots? (That would take a while, to go through uploading each individual song, moving the sequences around, etc.)
3. And one more thing. When I take a break on working on a song and want to work on something new, I save all of the files from my mpc to a file on my computer (the whole scrambled up list of random mpc format and wav files) so that when I'm ready to go back, I just copy the exact same files onto my mpc hard drive as I had saved originally. But usually, when I come back to the project and try to upload it, something messes up along the way. It is sometimes that the MPC just gets pissed off and says "_____ ERROR" (I forget the exact words) and it makes a LOUD sound. And sometimes, the mpc just can't read the sequence files. They just can't be uploaded. By only theory for the reason of this is that it is because I don't name my files. I just keep them as AllSmplsAndSqnce1 (or whatever the default name is.) And the MPC can't differentiate it from any other files of it's type. But the name shouldn't have that big of a role, you know?
This is not urgent at all. It is just something I'd like to know. I am expecting it to be answered in bits over a long period of time, because it seems like there is a big amount of explaining and sh!t to be done. Maybe my questions don't even make sense, I don't know. But take your time and don't try to answer it all at once, unless there is like a one word answer, which would be cool, and impossible.
