This may be a elementary question to please give me a elementary answer.. What are the 2 slide components used for on the MPC1K? They say Q2 and Q1 and they slide up and down... What is it's primary use?

Man, there's a whole chapter on them in the manual..

Chapter 8, page 44.

One thing to note is that the changes only take effect when the pad is hit again.

isn't it a goddamn shame you can't use the sliders to control the velocity???!!!

i was gonna just use note repeat with my snare and then use the slider to drop the volume out lower and lower for each hit. would be such a nice workaround to the 1000 not having any delay.

oh well.

pretty much the sliders are just there to accidentally be broken.

I missed the sig - sorry bout that:

Here's what's in the manual (can be downloaded from akaipro.com)

Tune - control sample's pitch
Filter - control filter's cutoff freq
Layer - switches layers
Attack - controls attack time of Amp Env
Decay - controls decay time of Amp Env

Try setting the same sample on all 4 layers, but each with a different volume level.

Then use the Q-Link to switch between layers (I think they can over lap some)....

don't know that it works, but thought it might be a work-around...

I love my 1k but I dont get what state of mind the AKAI development team was in when they created this thing & I just want to know if any of you share the same opinion?

Cant control the volume/pan level for the selected track by using the sliders instead of the DATA wheel? why?

Cant real time pitch bend ? why ? even the simplest of CPUS can do this.

In mixer mode cant switch programs..there are some vacant/empty (F)FUNCTION buttons that could hold a prog + / prog - function! why not?

I can live without these things, and music will be produced... but I just dont get there mentality..

and I dont buy that arguement that AKAI want people to upgrade to the 200XL for more functionality.
