diggin jazz records

Hi guys!

Im in a jazz mood these days i used to sample a lot of soul mainly ,a lil bit of rock too but im pretty ignorant when it comes to dig dope jazz records so which period is better for jazz (50's 60's 70's) which artist do u recommand thank you! peace

Man find your own artists. I prefer 70's.

But if you really want some nice horn jazz (aint tellin' you my rare favourites), then Charles Earland, Barry White, David Axelrod, Grover Washington Jr., Joe Henderson, Yusef Lateef... But theese guys have been sampled like millions of times.

look for labels on CTI record label. 80-90 percent of those records are dope dope dope.

"nice horn jazz" and you say Barry White?!?! (And David Axelrod is hardly jazz.) The rest of the recommendations are good.

Anyway,
you can also check the-breaks.com: see which jazz artists have been sampled a lot.

jazz is pretty wide in terms of the variety of sounds under that umbrella, like said before, probably best to find your own favorite artists, blog around a bit - there was a thread around here called "cti nobs take note" thats got some links in it that will help.
im not going to advise you avoid any artists in particular as it all depends on what kind of beats you want to make or what your mood is.

but since your asking for peoples opinions - my preferred area to dig jazz is 70's funk/soul jazz - cti, milestone, groovemasters, abc, blue note, its all been done to death but its fun.

Well, trust me, Barry White solo is damn good.

Well, Im telling you, dig for the album Together Brothers by Barry White. That's is fuc*** dope! And I guess you will change your mind after that.

And as _Stilo_ said, dont stare blind on Love Unlimited Orchestra.

Another tip, if your from another country then the US, dig for music from your country. Every country has some pearls, I'm from Sweden, which is a pretty huge music exporter, but anyway, I've found some shit that noone even been close to sampling before, i guess.
Or search locally if your not from one of all big towns, and if you are, search locally in the town. Dont stare blind at the big labels, find your own... Pretty much repeating there but it'll probably help you alot. French 70's jazz have some dopeness too, but ofcourse you'll have to dig more for a good one of thoose then a for example CTI record.
