Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just bought an MPC2000 XL a few days ago and I have a few questions.
Any help would be fantastic. Please dont burn me for asking newbie questions !

1) Is it possible to have some kind of memory for the MPC, so when you turn it off, your samples and still stored on board ?

2) What are the benifits of having the CD-rom drive ?

3) I want to be able to load up all my samples and beats to their asigned pads instantly for gigs, is this possible ? or do I need a zip disk ?

1: There is an internal slot to add a Flash ROM chip....there should be a bit about it in the manual. However I don't know anyone who has this fitted.
2: Personally I think a CD-ROM drive would only be useful if there were a lot of commercially available MPC CD-ROMS. To make your own MPC CD-ROMS you still need a zip drive or floppies to get your data from the MPC to a computer.
3: Yes......just make sure you save your samples laid out together as programs. Then when you load that program it will put the right samples to the right pads. Zips are faster than floppies & hold much more information. You won't want to be fumbling through a box of floppies at a gig.

Hey Geezer,
Thanks for the help...
So in responce to question 3...So I need to have a zip disk for each song ?

And if I had this flash rom, would that be enough memory to save alot of beats and samples ?
