Veloctiy % on Main Screen

Hello,
Coming to the MPC1k from the MPC60, and I have a quick question.
On the main screen of the 60 (and the 2000), each track has a veloctiy % value on the main screen. So if I tap a beat and it's too loud, I can just reduce the velocity value for that track while it's playing.
How do you do this on the 1k? Do you go to another screen and adjust the velocity in real time?

If everything in general is to loud hit mode then Other. And lower the frequency, if you want to lower each samples Velocity hit mode then program and you can choose from there.

You can't do it in the 1000. You have to either reduce the pad volume or reduce the velocity in step edit, there is a way to change velocity for all pads in a track in the 60 besides that, where you hit the pads select the track and set the value and hit do it, the 1000 may have that as well.

You should go back to the 60 and get a good rack sampler

The 1k is a great unit, I dig the layout and the speed, so I'm sticking with it. But it is a big buzz kill that something so simple (a few characters on the main screen) were left out.
For ten years the method has been tap a beat on track 1, tap a beat on track 2, adjust the velocity, tap a beat on track 3, adjust the velocity, etc. Never leaving the main screen. Why did they choose to screw up the workflow like that? Seems like a really basic MPC feature.

There is more compromise in store, but over all the 1000 is ok.

I think Akai can raise the stakes from OK to awesome by adding some improvements to the OS. The original 2000 didn't have the track mute screen until they wrote in an update. And the old OS had to fit on a floppy.
So now that they have five or ten times the space to write the OS, hopefully they will get this little blue box hooked up with some nice tweaks (like the velocity adjust per track on the main screen).
If they have a designated button to the main screen, shouldn't a lot of the tweaks be available right from there? I see plenty of empty space where they can add some things.....
