Triggering MIDI sequences from a pad

Hey there,

I don't know if I'm asking this question the right way, but I was unable to find any answer by searching the forums first.

My question is: How can I assign a MIDI sequence to a pad. i.e. pressing the pad triggers a MIDI sequence to be played by outboard gear (in this case, a roland juno synth). I see that i can have a sequence sent out by pressing the 'play' button, but if I'm playing live I'd like to be able to press a pad to send a midi sequence rather than press the play button. I play a lot of my drums on the MPC "live", so my hands are kinda tied up and it rather difficult and annoying to have to press something other than a pad while I'm trying to keep a beat for the other guys onstage!

To clarify:

MPC 1000 (JJOS 2) midi out -> roland juno midi in. I want to play a sequence that is a keyboard/synth part from the MPC on the Juno. I would like to send the MIDI sequence by pressing a pad rather than pressing 'play'. Note: I have no need to have the midi out of the juno come into the MPC; think of the Juno as an external sound module being triggered by midi. No information needs to be sent back to the MPC. I'm just mentioning b/c every FAQ or tutorial brings this up but it is irrelevant for this application (right?).

there was some talk back in the os 2 days of PAD PATTERN being able to do something like this but JJ in the end said it wasn't possible or something like that. my memory is a little fuzzy.

best you could do is record your midi part to its own track, leave the track muted, and then when you want it to play just unmute it in the TRACK MUTE screen. if you have the TRACK MUTE screen set to change on END OF SEQUENCE (hit the WINDOW key to access this feature) you'll know that the part wont kick in until the sequence loops around.

only other way would be to get some other external gear to store the midi sequence and wait for a pad hit from the mpc and then send it to the Juno. starting to get complicated there, tho...

yeah i thought about that... having the mpc trigger another sampler or sequencer that in turn triggered the juno. cables, wires, BS.. have enough gear onstage as it is.

damn that's a shame. i might end up just sampling the keyboard part and playing it on the mpc, but i do a lot of filtering and stuff live on the fly that can't quite be replicated in a recorded sample. maybe a potential update for jj os 3? thanks again

err, what about the next sequence page and the sudden function
you could still keep your programms that you play by hand open in all your sequences?
may take a bit of manual dexterity, but a challenge is good, no?
