improvements for future OS updates

I'm very new to the MPC1000 (this week in fact), and this forum. I done a quick search and I dont think this has been brought up before.

Anyway, what are your suggestions for improving the OS in future updates. I've seen the per-track velocity modifier mentioned in other threads as a possible future improvement. What else??

Macro operations on Pads (e.g set all samples Decay=40, Note On)...

Oh, let me count the ways...

- modify note times in step edit
- timing advance
- "pass through" of audio inputs outside of record mode
- cut and paste in sample edit
- change count-in length of metronome

There's probably more, will have to think...

pitch shifting wouldnt be bad either

A zoning feature with atleats 8 possible zones (max 16 zones) & decay settings on each pad for each sample.

Let's be honest. They don't have to do anything, they may do nothing and just release an MPC 1000xl with a better OS and a tilting screen. But, a lot of us here have spent good cash on this company's products, and I think if AKAI wants to be around for a while, they should start to be kind to their customers. My Korg D16 multitracker changed dramatically from 1.0 to 3.0, I think AKAI should do the same with their products.
Two days of programming and they could turn this good machine into a great machine.
Here are my top three:
- veloctiy % on main screen (as I have mentioned before). It seems very unMPC like to not have this on the main screen.
- ability to slice sample across pads. Copy it across sixteen pads with different start and end points so you can adjust each one to how you like it (I prefer this to recycle type chopping).
- ability to edit parameters (i.e. start and end points) with the sliders. They're there, let's use em. You could use the top slider for start point (press after button for fine tune adjustment) and the bottom slider for end point.
Midi Program change on the main screen would be cool, but I would put that at a distant fourth.
Ability to shift notes back and forth in time while a sequence is playing would be great.
Ability to dissolve a track by midi note # into multiple tracks would also be great.
I don't want this thing to be cubase or protools, but a few tweaks would go a long way. We're only at 1.05, let's hope the next one adds some new functionality rather than just bug fixes.

Has anyone e-mailed their suggestions to Akai yet? What was their response?

USB as midi port like akai mpd-16 , eveolutin mk-361 or something like that.
i don't wan't to use midi cable any more. timing problem. too many cable... etc.

honestly, all i really want from an OS update is to be able to move individual events easily in step edit (the copy/paste method wastes so much time). i was really sad to see that i couldn't just use the jog wheel to do this.

if they did this in an update i would lose my mind.


...ohh and while i'm at it my second choice would be adding a delay effect. except for the bit grunger (somewhat) and the reverb, i would glady trade the rest of the cheesy ass effects for a simple delay.

and the delay in reality would just be a note repeat type of deal so i can't see why this would be so hard for them to do (unless they're be some polyphony issues or something). whatever, i just want them update the step edit with a move feature.
