Well, trust me, Barry White solo is damn good.
Well, Im telling you, dig for the album Together Brothers by Barry White. That's is fuc*** dope! And I guess you will change your mind after that.
And as _Stilo_ said, dont stare blind on Love Unlimited Orchestra.
Another tip, if your from another country then the US, dig for music from your country. Every country has some pearls, I'm from Sweden, which is a pretty huge music exporter, but anyway, I've found some **** that noone even been close to sampling before, i guess.
Or search locally if your not from one of all big towns, and if you are, search locally in the town. Dont stare blind at the big labels, find your own... Pretty much repeating there but it'll probably help you alot. French 70's jazz have some dopeness too, but ofcourse you'll have to dig more for a good one of thoose then a for example CTI record.
Well met
I dunno if it's entirely true, but all my Scandi friends say that most musicians from their countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) will be trained in a "classical jazz sense". They're all indie music d*ckheads (my friends, not Scandi's in general
Personally, I look for jazz from the late 50s to the end of the 60s. And yeah, definitely look at other countries apart from the obvious. France has had some great jazz musicians, as has Brazil (although that's more on the Samba/Bossa Nova tip).
