"12-levels with consistant tempo",.. do the other mpcs do this??
By namotu Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:48 am
nah they, don't. not tat i know of. i just thought it was a good idea, you can achieve the same effect using time stretching, but it just takes to long. hittiing 12 levels would be much easier

Hmmm...Thats something only the mods has power over. You're talking about like a locked sticky thread? Because if I make a topic with one lone post, that'll sink to two pages away in about a week and it might be forgotten.

We just need one good clean thread so the mods can see that its worthy and possibly ''Stick it''. But these threads can be used as a brainstorm until someone gives the right direction.

It doesn't have to be a sticky (that would definitely be best though), just whoever makes the first post would be the custodian of the thread and keep all the suggestions collected into the first post periodically for easy reading.

The same thing that we have here except everything gathered into the first post instead of somewhere along the line in the thread. You could even take everything from the last post I made in this thread collecting everything preceding it and just add it into the first post in the thread you made a few days ago and go from there.

A good clean thread like you said.

why isn't the speed of scrolling thru the numbers affected by holding the shift button?

common sense idea.

Sounds good, but I think scrolling with the q slider would be even faster and more intuitive than a 2 fingered scheme.

It would add a physical orientation to scrolling values in addition to the visual.

i'm here and very much so enthusing 'The List'

i agree that One List is key. if everyone adds their requests to this one Wish List, we'll have a singular place to reference potential updates / new features.

this is important for everyone: 500 users can keep checking the updated list to see if their wants have already been detailed and Akai (or whoever) have One specific place to see what it is that users really want and need.

if we can stick to the format this list started with:

MPC 500 OS WISH LIST

* Ability to save Filter Settings

* Some form of Chop Shop

* Track Volume

(etc and in the format of point '*' then concise as possible request)

the practice should be to find the last updated Formatted list in this thread then make the effort to add your request to it.

this thread can be something wikipedia-like for all things concerning future 500 OS

Good to see ya back proppa (I totally missed it but I guess you did post a few days ago).
I think this is a good time to get the list cleaned up and visible again.
Its been awhile since the last OS update and I figure they should be working on the next one as we speak.

A function to create a 12 level pitched soundbank automatically through time stretch.
So that you would get the same loop in 12 pitches, but the same length.

(Although the farthest stretches might come out too garbled to cover a whole 12key scale, so maybe 12 levels within a 6 key range?)

i combed through here and added the few points i could grab quickly (note: if i can grab em quickly, then so can Akai etc conceptually speaking so for bloody sake Please keep revising the actual List below)

if you have a request and don't see it on here, add it and retain the format by copy and pasting the entire list with your additions (or subtractions if anything on here is rhetorical or already solved)

MPC 500 OS WISH LIST

* Ability to dismount from computer without physical USB cable removal

* Track Volume

* Ability to adjust entire Program volume

* Some form of Chop Shop

* Better pad Sensitivity

* Filter Envelope

* Track pad mutes

* Ability to edit slider data in sequence edit (pitch, volume, filter)

* 1/64 note Time Correction in sequencer + triplets

* Ability to use Record Mode without stopping sequence playback

* Ability to use Trim Mode without stopping sequence playback

* Recordable + MIDI controllable track mutes

* Ability to increase and decrease data in sequence edit (etc. go from 5% on step one 95% on step three, then it would automaticly create a data ramp in between)

* Ability to trigger sample from a MIDI note

* Multi Timbral Capacity (each MPC track can respond to MIDI messages on seperate MIDI channels from an outboard sequencer)

* Display of specific Track Numbers (instead of 'M') on the Track Mute screen
* Expand assignable pad banks via Shift + pad bank buttons. IE: Shift + A, B, C, D = E, F, G, H.

* Ability to scroll or skip through sample previews from CF card via wheel or forward and back buttons.

* Ability to link 500 to PC and use PC screen for additional programmability such as sample pad assignments, chop shop, wave form editing, etc.

* Ability to use, or enable for use in settings, the Q-Link slider for data input in highlighted areas in addition to the scroll wheel. IE: Volumes, sequence numbers, sample edit parameters, etc.

* Ability to use "save all to Autoload" as workspace area without Data loss.
* Ability to have folders and files on CF card and samples in memory consistently displayed alphabeticly.

* Renaming letter/ number selection screen that scrolls the same direction each time. IE: A-Z, then numbers then symbols Left to right every time instead of randomly being reversed to symbols then numbers then Z-A from left to right.

* Drivers to format and access external HDD through USB port.

* LFO

* Direct Record
